Monday

Monday arrived and because it was the alternate Monday, Derek was off from work....which makes it a lovely day.....what were we to do but head off for a coffee to work out the game plan for the remainder of the day.

We visited the bike shop, the fencing place, the supermarket, the hardware store and managed to tie up some jobs we have been meaning to get to....one being for me to finish off the panel I made for our french door on our bedroom. It was a lovely remnant piece of fabric that I hemmed and hung to create the privacy that was needed.
I am pretty pleased with result.

Lov'in walk'in

We are almost halfway through the school year and having changed schools at the beginning of the year...this is what we are loving the most.

Walking to school.

We are just two streets away and it is very liberating to leave the car behind and walk, sometimes with other families or other times with no-one else in sight. It is a great time to chat and generally observe the things going on around us in the neighbourhood.

Weekends End

It was an exquisite day today....too good to waste and seeing as both our children had or made other good offers for the afternoon we headed home form church with the whole afternoon to ourselves.

What was one to do but head out to lunch and soak in some sun. It is certainly very nice to have some catch up time , some slow time, some time to enjoy the moment...especially as Monday is just around the corner.

Busy Beavers

At the usual rush hour it seemed unusually quiet around our parts.... this one was in his room intent on doing some colouring in...

and this one was in her room working away very intently on some bracelets.
who was I to complain especially as I was way behind on the nightly schedule.
Just another one of those tiny glimpses into how big they both really are becoming....no babies around these parts anymore.

Remember the video?

I made a purchase today that I am very excited about...for anyone who knows me they know that technology isn't something that normally excites me....
This however will hopefully allow us to save all our old video footage and place it onto DVD's.

This little gadget is all that is needed to do the job.... we began tonight to test it out and popped in our ...WEDDING Video. This is nearly 22 years old(next month).
The kids were still up and joined us as we watched our much younger selves going through the wedding looking decidedly nervous and naive....
Fraser was the most amused and said to us " Why would you do that in front of all those people?' Well we laughed and laughed.
How is it that you move so far through life that you end up hardly recognising the younger version of yourself?...
I am sure that as we make our way through the stack of videos we will wonder that thought over and over!

Catch-Up

The last few days have been quiet frenetic around here .. the weather has turned cold, wet and windy this weekend so I would like to say that has kept us indoors!!!!! but not this little family.
Had the fun of going to the craft fair on Friday with Friends..so much to see and be inspired by.
I just loved the banner display by students at the WAFTA

Also made a few small purchases to continue on with the creative efforts at home...purchases from here and here and here.
and just so I can justify my purchases I whipped up this cute bag with the fabric I purchased from here.

I have a couple of requests for some capes that i am nearly done making before Tuesday...
We also held our annual Leaders conference on Saturday morning which provided us with some great inspiration on being great leaders in whatever we are doing...
Then today after attending church we headed to the grandparents for a Lamb Roast oooooh how good was that. While some got stuck into the movie watching...
others pondered over some old photos....
and me?...I set the in-laws up with their own ebay account to help part with an abundance of goods!
There were a number of other things that we maneuvered through and now find ourselves preparing for the arrival of MONDAY and we are all aware of how each will feel when it arrives on our doorstep!

Living fully

Don't ask what the world needs.
Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs
is people who have come alive.
- HOWARD THURMAN

Some sighs of relief today as the redundancy wand waved over and passed us today...not so for many others ..nothing like a big word to keep you on your toes.

A couple of busy days ahead as I get to work on a couple of custom orders..as well as trying to get my Granny Rug finished.

Feeling quite ready for the week to begin tomorrow after cramming so much fun into our weekend.

Lazy Saturday???

Today was not what I would call a lazy Saturday...

  • Up with the birds in 2 degrees for our little bit of exercise.
  • Fraser off to a party with the super-cape made for the birthday boy.
  • Bron off to a scrapbooking day with friends
  • Meg picked up after an all night movie night at church
  • Fraser picked up from the party
  • Meg dropped off at Hip Hop Class
  • Bron picked up from scrapbooking day
  • Meg picked up from dance class

  • Potato and Leek soup made for dinner
  • Time to work on Kid's church lesson for the morning
  • Pavlova made and in the oven for a luncheon with friends tomorrow

  • Maybe a few moments to work on my granny blanket before heading to bed ready to tackle the Sunday madness.
Thanks to my honey for doing the lions share of all the craziness today while I wiled away the hours with friends and photos.

Carried Away..

I have been a little carried away with my granny squares ...I have been really loving the simplicity and rhythm of the crocheting. I thought last night I should count how many I have as Derek has often asked me what exactly was I going to do with them all.
I counted up 108 squares!!!
So I headed to here and worked out how to start joining them up...it is quite addictive as it grows really quickly into a very quirky blanket!

One Month to live Campaign week 1-part 1/4

What would you do if you had One Month Left to Live?

This a programme we are committing to for the next thirty days...One Month To Live.
It will require us to read through the book in thirty days, meet with our small group and get great teaching from our Pastor each Sunday at The Baldivis Church...
If you would like to join us you can watch along and be encouraged to also ponder the question.

Too Funny...

What happens when you don't listen to ya mumma!!!

After yesterdays cleverness on his bike......this was the result of riding on the deck 10 minutes before we were to leave for school...."but mum I didn't get my sore head wet!!!!"- he was drenched from his toes to his shoulders.
After I took the photos I gave him a telling off for not doing as he was told then proceeded to laugh and laugh( I admit I even sent photos to Derek and shared them with friends throughout the day)
After having two daughters this boy thing is certainly proving to be an interesting and never dull ride.

Just like that!

Fraser asked Derek out of the blue to take off the trainer wheels on his bike......
and just like that he took off and didn't look back....he could ride perfectly....

After a few laps of the front yard, a couple of crashes into our parked car and a few near misses of the large tree in the centre of the lawn...he was able to self start and brake stop quite well.

(just in case you were wondering what the bandaged eye was....he collided on Saturday with the rocking chair and after a trip to the ER he now has a glued wound...what a week he has had!)

We were all pleasantly surprised at how easy the whole process was.....
just like that!

Mum's Day

My Day began with a lovely breakfast (at the table as per my request- so much easier to enjoy than under my chin in bed!)
Off to church together then home to a pre-prepared lunch.

These guys are why I get to celebrate Mother's Day...
and this beautiful lady who I call mum...the bestest Mum-in-law in the west!

(check out the bee on my neck that shortly after this photo was taken bit me!!!!)

Some lovely homemade gifts that they so diligently kept hidden from me....

2 new pairs of winter jammies....
and a bike to take me places .....

Overall a lovely day spent with the most important people in my life.
