A new favourite

I am not one who is really into game shows with silly games but this one has caught my attention......and that of our whole family.
I can see all those who run kid's programmes just loving the long list of games that can be so easily played and used to entertain kids....this is one Children's Pastor who will be trying one or two this Sunday!

SSSHHH it's a secret

More about this cute little fella when he arrives in the hands of one 5 year old Tasmanian nephew.

Such Concentration

There has been a lot of this in the last few weeks........

Yesterday we found an old table and set up all his pencils and paper in one place.....he has been so busy drawing and colouring in all over the house we were being swamped by paper piles. So now he can draw and colour to his hearts content in his own defined space.

Finished

Meg headed off to a sleepover on Saturday night. It was a friend from schools birthday so a present was needed.
I set to work to make a bag that hopefully would be loved by an eleven year old.....

Also over the weekend I had the chance to finish sewing in all the loose ends on my granny square rug...just in time for the very chilly nights we are experiencing. Although we have heating, there is nothing like curling up on the couch with a blanket.
We did a lot of this over the weekend....curling up on the couch watching movies.

22 Years

I hardly recognise these two .....
so young and naive about the road ahead...

But 22 years today we have travelled a road that hasn't always been straight, has never had boring scenery and it has never had signs along the way to indicate speed, direction, hazards, road blocks or rest points.
Maybe if it had we would never have begun such a journey at the tender ages of 20 and 23....but we did and I could never have picked a more perfect for me person to have traveled the road with.
Well my soul mate, I am looking forward to the rest of the journey even if there is little or no signage ahead.

Happy Anniversary.

edited...a beautiful bunch of roses just appeared on my doorstep xxxx

Mission begun

Over the next few months I will be heading up a project in our church to support the charity Operation Christmas Child.
One of the many tasks I need to complete for this project to get under way is some very low or no cost items to go into a gifted shoebox.
I started by purchasing a whole lot of polar fleece at a great price to make some No-Sew-Scarves..........
I will enlist the help of some very dedicated friends, some are crafters but many are not so the aim is to find as simple time effective tasks ....
did I mention that we need to produce 100 of each different idea we come up with?

The mission has begun......

Swimming

This is what is hanging on our clothes airer today despite the fact that we have entered the season of Winter!
Both Meg and Fraser have begun two weeks of swimming lessons through the school.
The pool is close by the school and is heated but is still a tough time of the year to be in the water. Fraser has never done formal swim lessons so he is very excited and Meg at the other end was wishing she didn't have to do them.

So for the next two weeks it will betrying to wash and dry bathers and towels for the next day- without a clothes dryer!

Tastes Like?

When I looked out of my kitchen window this afternoon I saw these two up to something....They were laughing but also conversing over something.

I went out to satisfy my curiosity only to discover they were eating "Jelly Belly's" and deciding what the flavours were before checking on the box....

I was invited to join in the taste test ....so sweet of them.

Around Our House

Today was a day to get some serious work done around our house.....
this old shed needed to come down to make way for a new fence.

We enlisted the help of my Dad and of course Fraser was keen to be involved.
Team work was required to clear the site...apart from being the assistant to the guys who knew what to do I was on morning tea and lunch duty.
This tool was in high demand throughout the day....

After a hard days work we have a brand new fence....

The trouble now is that one job always leads to many others.
Thanks to the skilled men in my life who are willing to have a go and stick it out to the end. Good Job achieved.

My Creative Space

I should be tying in the zillion loose ends on my granny square blanket but have become a little sidetracked...
I thought it would be nice to have some colour in my wardrobe and just happen to have this ball of wool not in use...and because I am loving the crocheting so much I set to work on a quick scarf.
I will get to the loose ends right after I finish this.
If you are looking to be inspired by a whole heap of creative people check out here....you will need a cuppa for this though.

Envelpoe Project

I like to check in on a number of inspirational blogs around the big wide world. One that I really like is Meet Me at Mikes....last October when we visited Melbourne I ran out of time to schedule a visit to their store. My plan for this October is to put it at the top of my must visit list.
But until then Pip is holding a really neat challenge...

the envelope project
It really appealed to my "Bowerbird" tendencies so I have put together my envelope of little treasures and will have it in the post tomorrow.....

If you want to join in click on the Meet Me at Mike's picture and find out how.

All Grown up

The day has come where we can actually go out to a "grown up's" restaurant as a family. We headed off to one of our local restaurants for the continued birthday celebrations.
We were very proud of the kids and how they sat nicely, waited patiently between ordering and eating, kept interesting conversation and all round made it a very enjoyable occasion.
There were times when the thought of sitting in a real restaurant with the children seemed all too hard a task...not because they are difficult children but it does take another level of understanding to know how being in a restaurant works.

Coolest Gift

Derek was the musician at his youngest brother's wedding back in Oct 2008...Yesterday they presented him with this fantastic canvas they had done for him.
It is a wonderful representation of him and his passion for playing guitar.
It will take pride of place outside of his studio room so that everyone can enjoy it.

Fun for the Mummies

Some weeks ago I had the opportunity to go into a "ticket grab" for a new movie premiere....Mother And Child.
So myself and 4 friends headed off to eat, have a laugh and watch the evening away.
We started with an early dinner at L'l Creatures Brewery in Fremantle ....lovely still evening enjoying good company and watching the sun set.

We then stopped off on the way to the movies for a quick "cache grab" our first done under the cover of darkness!

We then headed to the cinema for the movie.....not sure I enjoyed it...I personally found it too intense so spoilt the story line for me a lot. Anyway made for a lovely night with friends even better that the tickets were free!
Time for one more nearby grab before heading home!

Birthday Fun

Yesterday was the lead up event for a week of special birthday's....On Tuesday the 15th June we have 4 birthdays that we celebrate in our family.
Yesterday there was an early "Monster Party" for our nephew and cousin Bailey who will be 5 on Tuesday.......

Fraser likes the fact that his cousin Bailey is now finally the same age as him!

Friday in My house

This Friday was all mine...well after I did some loads of washing, churned through the ironing and cleared the kitchen benches....
I had an inspiration to use the scraps from my lego bag to create a tote for a special birthday in a couple of days time.....

and a spare one for another time and celebration.
There was also time to make some brownies for the troops afternoon tea.
An attempt to get my latest read finished.

Oh and I also had many skype chats with my Blog designer friend ...I am really pleased with what she has done....check out my Bron's Creations blog . The "pretty" wand was waved over it too.
