Dreams

The Dilemma.....

My Wish....

His Wish...

Although I can hear my hubbie "quietly" reminding me that there really isn't any comparison to a dream that he has had since he was a teenager!

Pitter Patter

A new
niece and nephew?
niece and niece?
Nephew and nephew?
We will have the pitter patter of two sets of little feet by the end of the year in our extended family......
So very exciting...
Now I am pretty sure we will not be told what the colour of those little feet will be so I must get to work soon.
I have already a blue variety of quilt done and waiting for the perfect recipient...I will now need to have on hand a pink variety and just in case  they are both the same will have to get to work on double of both!

Just the  labour of love this non-quilter is up for!

edited: I should have pointed out that the babies are coming from two different siblings....although the thought of twins would be fun!

All Finished

While I was away having a great family weekend...I did manage to sit and finish my Granny Stripe Blanket I started last winter. All I had left to do was sew in all the ends.....easy when you have quite a bit of time to sit and chatter at the same time.

Contemplating another one....hmmm

My Creative Space

I have had too many weekends away lately and so my creative space is limited to showing you my playgroup happenings....

Well I only provide the idea and then my families go for it....
The Gruffalo was the story told....
and
Boxes and collage became their own Gruffalos

Are you my Mother?... was the story
and prompted by an idea I saw here and having had the perfect weekend away collecting and foraging , my families came up with these....

It really is a highlight of my working  week preparing and sourcing the story and craft for my two playgroup sessions.

My Family

My dad turned 70 years old last week.......

So we as a family....
Myself and my clan-  4 of us....
Dad and Step mum
My middle sister and her clan - 6 of them
My younger sister and her clan - 6 of them
Headed away for a long weekend.....

My youngest sister lives in Tasmania so it was extra special to have them visit....

We all headed off to stay the long weekend together at a beautiful village not too far from where we live.

Loads of time for hanging with cousins, jumping in puddles, visiting with the horses....

Playing games and roaming ...things that only boys understand.....

Catching up on the fun to be had with cousins the same age that we don't see all that often.....

It was such a great time to chat , eat and hang out at a cool place....

I  wondered many times during the weekend how my dad really felt having all his clan together...and what a clan we are now....

Some of the clan learnt some new skills late into the night....

Others were brave and tackled some adventure....

We all enjoyed the peace and wide open spaces to walk , run, ride and generally hang out....

But all good things must come to an end and we will remember another great family moment  in time.....
I love that my family can come together and share in each others lives....share our wisdom and learn form each other on the journey of being parents, partners and siblings.

My Creative Space

I am embarrassed to say that the lovely Michelle kindly sent me a pattern for an art smock way back ....it is now Week Two ,Term Two and I have just completed the art smock for Fraser....
He has only ruined both school shirts with paint {sigh}
I don't know if it is a boy thing or just my boy but he was a little unimpressed with my efforts. which made taking his photo near on impossible....It is very practical and hopefully will save any future uniform shirts.

Check out the new home of Our Creative Space here.

The little things...

or are they big things?
Waiting on a voucher that could be spent on anything of his choice...lego!
So much anticipation and excitement when it arrived....

..and an email to confirm that one had progressed to the next stage in the process of applying for specialised creative arts high school programmes for next year.....

Too much excitement coming form within these walls.

My Creative Space

With Blogger being down most of the week I thought I may have missed joining in the weekly "My Creative Space"....

This week was all about a post Mothers Day theme for playgroup...Playgroup only went back this week so we did catch up for the mums....
Using these two great tutorials here and here for  inspiration we made mum a fabric brooch........

I used hot glue before the morning to attach the brooch pins then they went ahead and chose their own fabric pieced design.

Pumpkin Scones

I thought because I had made this so often I had shared....I was wrong, so here goes.....last night I had a church meeting and my favourite thing to take for supper is....
Pumpkin Scones with a slight diference.......
Unfortunately this was all that remained when I took the photo...

2 cups of self raising flour
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup of cold cooked pumpkin
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
 1 tablespoon hot water
a pinch of salt

Cream butter and sugar with hot water. Add the egg and beat well. Add the pumpkin, then the flour and salt. If too stiff, moisten with a little milk. Roll out, cut into shapes and bake in a fairly hot oven for 10 mins.....
As found in my mum's CWA cookbook

BUT
It is quite a sticky mixture so I forget the rolling into the shapes bit and drop it whole onto a tray and cook as a damper mound.
When cooked we slice and lather with butter and consume while warm.
MMMMMMM

Cam shared her recipe for pumpkin bread recipe here...

When we returned home from our weekend away......

A rose from our "Taylor" rose bush waiting to be brought inside....
can't help thinking it was specially awaiting there to remind me I'm still her mum.

The rest of the weekend

The rest of the weekend being today....
Mothers Day
It was a really nice day spent together with the kids....

No sleep in or breakfast in bed ...no flashy pressie, but a lovely day just to be thankful that I have some ones that love me and do appreciate what I try and achieve as a mum.
