Loving my interesting Dad...

I think my dad is pretty interesting......

Which makes him a pretty cool grandpa!

Fraser had the opportunity of spending the day with Grandpa while we headed to work yesterday......

My dad thought to invite along one of my nephews to keep Fraser company.......
 {hmmmm two 7 year olds ..what was he thinking?}

I am not sure Fraser really needed company, cause there is never a dull moment at Grandpa's place.

He was excited to spend the day with his cousin too though.

Grandpa took them body boarding in the morning.......
( my dad will be 71 next month!)
Apparently Grandpa rode a couple of mean waves into the beach once the little guys had finished with the boards....

Next on the list was to spend some time with a hammer and nail and punch holes in their bottle top collection.....

I think the rest of the project will be finished on the next visit...

no electronic distractions here today.......

As you probably have gathered my dad has a pretty cool shed and it is filled with all things that I remember growing up with .....always a project or twenty on the go.....many cars or bikes in various states of restoration......

Grandpa made the most of an extra pair of hands and taught them the art of polishing a car......

Their reward was a ride in the car ........an ice cream may have been collected along the way too.

Fraser was amused that people stared at them.......

Oh to be little again and riding up with my dad in a car that he had so loving  spent many hours working on.....

I certainly never did appreciate to the full what an awesome dad I grew up with and only now as I see him with my kids does it sink in!

I am loving that they are now getting the best bits of my dad ...especially as he doesn't have to worry to much about all the other burdens of being the parent to them.

Not sure who's eyes were heavier when pick up time arrived.....actually I do....hope my dad slept well xx

I wholeheartedly believe that no matter what is happening in your life, there is always something that you can be thankful for... no matter how simple it is.

  4. Your little guy is lucky to have such a cool Grandpa. Funny how we don't appreciate them as much as parents until we see them as grandparents. My little man thinks his Grandad is the bee's knees :)

  5. I have fond memories of your dad taking Renae and I on Rally's....some of the dearest memories I have are of your dad spending time with his girls (including me).
I so appreciated your family taking me under their wing...imagine if that had not happend! I may have missed the greatest opportunity of my life.....meeting God (through your wonderful family) I will be eternally greatful and one day look forward to thanking your mum in person! James and I both aspire to spend time with our girls just like your dad did.....give him a hug from me. Kelly W xxxx
