Let's cook mum!

Fraser was very keen to do some cooking, he was very insistent that we make the scones using the lemonade that was in the fridge. He knew the lemonade was bought for the scone making because he had been trying to convince me to share some with him.
So together we used this great recipe and produced these very yummy Lemonade scones.

Do you have one of these fantastic inventions to store your warm scones in? I use mine all the time- it was something my mum made for me when I first got married and it continues to be used all this time later. It is really designed for carrying casseroles or the like while they are hot- great for that meal you have prepared to take to someone or else it's just great for piping hot scones to rest in.

Growing Up

My sister sent me these photos today of her kids and mine at the beach during the school holidays.
Looking through the eyes of the camera made me realise how much they are growing up - especially that caring 10 1/2 year old.

Sweet Angel

5 Things I miss about "Our Big Girl"

Her big hugs and huge smile
Her love for Jesus
Putting butterfly clips in her hair

The way she put her head down and took off in the other direction

Having her here to be apart of our family for the last 5 years...

Love you, Taylor Louise.

No Cleaning Monday

Normally Monday's are reserved for housework but not today....too many other things to get done.
Treasure to find...

Soil to move...
Haircuts to have..
Along with a visit to the library, car to wash, a coffee to share and a meeting to be at ....who has time for cleaning ? Not me today!

Hot Hot Hot

The hottest October day in 13 years-37.0 degrees Celsius!!!!!!!
Where did that come from? We made another trip to the garden centre for some more supplies as we endeavour to prepare our garden for the Summer months.....we relocated some plants and put some new ones in the ground....
and purchased an arch for some red climbing roses.
Then it was off to help celebrate this little guys 3rd birthday....

Happy Birthday Logan ( our nephew).

Spiderman Aspirations

"Fraser, go into your room and have some quiet reading time for a little while..."
"Mum , I'm going to do some crafting OK?"

"Do you like my spiderweb it's just like spiderman would do?"

What was I too say? And no it wasn't my thread he found it all in the craft box with the beads.

Sew Along

A couple of weeks ago I was reading Melissa Goodsell's blog and she put out a challenge to sew along with her making skirts from this pattern. I thought this sounded like fun and so put my name up to join in. That was until I realized how busy this week was going to be and following on from our trip to Melbourne.
But I was determined to at least get one sewn up and here it is just in time for the end of the week.
I used some material that I thrifted from somewhere it was the perfect piece for this skirt.
I am very pleased not only because it was so simple to do but that Meg actually likes it.

Flying High

A gift we returned with from Melbourne....a good old fashioned kite for the whole family to enjoy. The great thing about flying kites is that there is lots of running required to tire 4yr olds out!

Last Snippets

Before the weekend really does feel like a distant memory here are some more highlights of all the fun we had.....
Lots of this...
Plenty of this....
A good dose of this...
and this...
with these guys...
Oh and they even indulged me in a geocache ...
or two!

Yes that is me under that footbridge balancing precariously so as not to fall into the upside down river also know as the Yarra.( I did find what i was looking for though)

But now it is on with life as we know it...a pile of mending was tackled tonight. Long pants with holes in the knees made short and an odd assortment of other things in need of some tender loving needlework.
Now that my workspace is marginally clearer I can hopefully tackle this before the week is done.

More of Melbourne

We took a drive up to the beautiful Dandenong ranges. The weather was just perfect although once up there it was a little cloudy to see the city clearly. With daylight savings we were able to spend a nice evening up there "sipping cuppas" and chatting with good friends.
A lot of the world's issues can be solved at times like these.

I took the chance of calling on one of the locals...
