Hanging with family

It's been a while since I have shared any of our geocaching adventures but that's just how we spent the morning

Being school holidays  we took the opportunity of hooking up with my two sisters and their kids.....

So with three mummies and 11 kids ( 9mths -15 years) between us off we set for a lovely adventure around a local lake

The lake is home to many interesting creatures and bird life and of course littered with caches.

The boys had a great time riding away from us and the girls toddled along with the mummies.

Pleased to say a nice outdoorsy morning, chats with my sister, watching kids be kids, holding little nieces hands
and 7 finds under the belt ....

not a bad way to spend time with no cost involved.

If you haven't ever tried Geocaching ...have a go.....you won't regret it.

I mean really who doesn't like a treasure hunt?

December 10 {Thankful #10}

{ Blog 25 days of being Thankful..... this as a way of staying focused on the good , happy and pleasing moments....
it's a way of acknowledging all that we take for granted, all that we sometimes overlook as we let busyness take over.}

Today I am thankful for......

  • Finishing off some more thank you gifts to give out tomorrow....
I have seen this idea both here  and here and thought they were so cute and a fun, novel gift to give.

Also thankful for
  • a fairly laid back day in which to head out and find treasure. Something we haven't done as a family for a little while.

There is always new finds in our local area that pop up and need discovering....

and while out and about we discovered this sign at a local popular drinking establishment....

Hmmm marketing has reached new heights!

The Start Of.... {Blogtoberfest Day 1}

Wow October already....and right on time this arrived in the mail......

so took the chance with the girl to have a cuppa and flick through the pages.....

Today was also a pretty big day on the Aussie sporting calender ...even if your team wasn't playing I am sure it was on in the background at a lot of homes......
Although AFL is the favoured ball we also had a round ball date this morning.......

the little guys gave their dads a run for their money.......
we also managed to squeeze in a school friends birthday party........

some wander time and rock skimming.......

some hanging out time......
getting up close and personal with the locals........

and some sunset caching to finish off a beautiful 1st of October Spring day....

Clearing the head

We took a few minutes out of the house today to clear the head......well mine anyway....
It was a wet and windy day today so it was nice to head to the beach and watch the waves.....
we did hunt a cache while there too!

(it was cold - The little guy just doesn't get it!)

We stood and watched the rain coming in fast....

There were a few distractions from the weather watching....

Then it was back to the shelter of the car and home again to continue what had begun!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend wherever you are.

Saturday arvo

Unlike the last few Saturdays we had no real plans...hubbie had to head off to work which is really odd for us on a Saturday.
So we called on family to join us for an afternoon of caching.
So with six kids kitted out on an assortment of wheels and three adults on foot we headed down the 2.5km path to find 9 cache hides.....

It was such a beautiful day out ...the kids took off and explored along the way......

When we rounded the final bend we were pleased to find a great playground and some toilets to have our pit stop......

I have said before how cool geocaching is and how much fun we have as a family and with friends....once again we took an adventure down an area that is very local to us but we would probably not have explored...

besides you can't ague with a 5 km round walking trip along some of the most beautiful coast line.

So many views

We spent most of today with friends on a geocaching day in our south.
The weather was perfect and the kids had a great time getting out into the wide open spaces.

We climbed quite a few high spots around the town...with some spectacular views to reward the climbs...

Fraser was so adventurous on his own climbing the hugest sand hill and having fun jumping of sandstone ledges....
The hiding places of caches never seems to disappoint....
...even if sometimes they are a little trickier to hide our intentions from the passing traffic or in this case the cafe sitter above!

Oh and much to my relief we managed to walk back in the door of home just as the "Bride" was getting into her car! So thankfully didn't miss any of the long awaited Wedding.

Geocaching

A couple of weeks ago a real life friend, Christie who has a fantastic blog Childhood 101 asked me to write a guest post on our experience with Geocaching. She is currently running a series of posts on outdoor fun ideas for families.

Hey I was pretty excited to "write " for someone elses blog... it was published while I was away.....you can see the published post over here.
We managed just two cache finds while on our overseas holiday this week. A bit hard to indulge too much when travelling with "non converted geocachers"!

Today

Today being mine and Derek's last day of holidays saw us head out despite it being a very warm and humid day ....
A little geocaching...
Some new sunglasses to fend off the sun....
and a late afternoon swim to cool down.....
Although I only have to put in two days of work this week...the organisation it requires does not make me excited.....
back to cooking meals, organising family to have the kids ( not that they mind that).
Summer is far from over so I am sure there will still be plenty of evening swimming and BBQ dinners still to be had.
