Heatwave

Four days of around 40 C may have been enough for me to put on my bathers and head to the beach with my guys early this evening.

A slightly cooler change expected tomorrow...finally

The house is open tonight in hopes that a cool fresh breeze might move through...still waiting.

Summer rains

It is still hot!

But the heavens broke today and we were doused in a heavy shower of rain.

Didn't cool the day down but the gardens almost groaned with delight at the drenching it received...

Now the night skies are filled with lightening.

Oh Summer.

Oh Summer

Oh  Summer...

Why oh why so  so so hot!

I know, I know, that is what summer is ....but no respite day and night is wearing....

Lucky we had a date with friends on the river today....a little boating for the big boys and kids and a big shady tree for the mummies.

{my whinging is falling on deaf ears, as while we were away in the sunshine all last week.....it was very not summery here.}

The upside of beach swim lessons (Thankful list)

Well it has been four days into our two weeks beach swim lessons.....and despite the hesitant start we are doing good....

The upside to our beach lessons as opposed to the Aquatic lessons we are used to is....

The total cost for two weeks of lessons for 4 kids is $34.50!

No pool entry fee every day

Every day has delivered a different weather forecast.

The landscape and what you discover throws up new things every day

The chance for a brisk walk along the sand is good for my health

There is no over the top enthusiastic life guards making the kids walk everywhere, stop splashing and generally prevent them from  having a bit of fun.....instead they have the whole stretch of the beach to run , jump, splash, be loud and ......even throw sand at each other!

and lastly there is no kiosk in sight to feel the pressure of having to empty my purse everyday for ice cream!

Hot Summer Nights

These days between Christmas and New Year are very unique....

No one has to be anywhere much....we've all eaten way too much and been social enough...

They are nothing days....but in a good way

We took the kids crabbing on one of the nights...it was hot ...too hot to stay home...still, with no breeze....perfect for crabbing...

A haul of 4 crabs was just what the crab loving ones in our family love.

These hot days...

When the temperature climbs...there is only one thing to do.....

Head to the pool for swimming lessons and fun with the cousins

Find a shady spot under the trees and wait it out until it is time to head home to the air conditioning...

Then when it is safe to do so head out for dinner at the beach under the cover of dark.....

..... Summer days.
(unfortunately the slow days are over...two of us head back to work tomorrow)

Nearly there

It's been a great way to pass the last two weeks of the school holidays and spend time with cousins each day.

Without my very capable sister it wouldn't have been possible....so from my wet soggy swimmers to you.....
THANK YOU.

Today

Today being mine and Derek's last day of holidays saw us head out despite it being a very warm and humid day ....
A little geocaching...
Some new sunglasses to fend off the sun....
and a late afternoon swim to cool down.....
Although I only have to put in two days of work this week...the organisation it requires does not make me excited.....
back to cooking meals, organising family to have the kids ( not that they mind that).
Summer is far from over so I am sure there will still be plenty of evening swimming and BBQ dinners still to be had.

Heat Wave

It's not officially Summer here yet...but we were looking for a way to cool down this afternoon in what is the start of a number of hot days to come.....

Now just to stock up on the sunscreen because I have a feeling we are going to need lots of it.
