* The week turned into the weekend , with a work conference over Friday /Saturday.......
It has been an amazing couple of days....took the opportunity of picnicking at lunch time under the trees in the park with my colleagues.

*We had birthday celebrations in our extended family.....

* Watching cousins play on what could easily have been a Summer evening...

* The amazing luxury of being at the seaside when the sun began to disappear...

* ...and then it finally did.

* A quiet lunch at home sans kids...thanks to fantastic youth leaders and Aunties....a steak was on the menu...cooked to perfection by my man.

* Silly selfies ahead of a changing smile for the teen as of tomorrow.....now off to the bank to see about the loan for the dental work!!!!

* No photo but I did have a luxurious nanna nap this afternoon.....it has been quite an emotional week for me.....I guess it all caught up today.

Hope your weekend was as lovely as ours....maybe you had a nap somewhere too...met with family or even worked part of the weekend....

This Week.....

This week I am loving.....

* Thank you for all the very special messages you left for my family on my last post.

* Soaking up the beauty of where we live on a extraordinarily lovely Spring day....

* While gardening finding that we had indeed had a peach on our tree....

* Burning some calories hitting the garden for a Spring tidy up....

* Gazing up at the spectacular tree we have in our garden ....and wondering which bits to get the tree surgeon to remove....

*  Letting the girls out for a run and forage.....

* One excited little guy on Sports day....

* Hearing all about his successful running and team playing.....

* Playing detective after a secret admirer note was found in the little guys school bag....he has asked a few of the girls in his class and has no luck......

* Gifts received in the mail from someone who never forgets our "Big Girl"

* Ending the week with a picnic in the sun.....lunch time at a work conference.

It is the weekend but I am having to complete another full day at conference...so the weekend is going to be short.....lucky the week was full of lovely things to ponder as I go.

9 years

Today is a strange day....today marks 9 years......

9 years since you left us.....

Today your brother is exactly the same age that you were.....

well minus 1 week.

You have been in our conversations a lot this last couple of weeks....

Mainly because your brother has been very curious and sentimental about you...asking lots of questions....

He wonders again when you died...how old you were.....

wonders why his cousins don't have an understanding of who you are...

wonders where he was when you were here.....

Is putting the pieces together that you nearly had the same birthday but that he decided to arrive exactly one week late....

He arrived just 4 months too late to meet you...

He is figuring all this out and with all the questions too...questions that get more complicated each year....he is a thinker.....he thinks about our family a lot...he thinks about you a lot.

Tells me that he misses you and that he is sad too.....

he knows we get sad but I reassure him that we want him to ask the questions...we want to keep talking about you

Meg has remembered today is your angel day.....she understands much clearer and is very sensitive to making us sad....

So 9 years have gone...your brother is 8 1/2 years old...in some ways you seemed older and yet strangely so little...being our first....  he our last....

We have a lot of bottles filled with our tears stored somewhere...9 years of tears is a lot of tears.....

Life has continued on for us....harder oh so much harder ,but still moving onwards.....
we will continue to talk about you...share who you are with your brother and your sister and their cousins.....

Continue to long for the day we will share you with them......all together.....group hug.

Weekend snippets

This weekend.....

* It's a pretty good start to the weekend when the teenager is up first and suggests she makes pancakes for everyone.....

* The legs have been unveiled after the winter.....a new skirt refashioned from the teens castoffs...

* The mulberry tree is in full flight for spring ..only a couple of weeks ago there were just twigs....

* Even the weeds are doing well....

* The tomatoes are loving the rain , bitter cold and then the sunshine all in one weekend....

* The "girls" are loving life too...3 eggs a day...small but 3 none the less....

* Finished the weekend feeding the mobs with pizza at a church celebration.....

Less than ten weekends to go till we are done with 2013.....hold on it's going to be a fast ride.

Have a great week.

Things I am Loving...

This week has been all about the first week back to school and work after holidays.
The camera didn't come out much....
The hubby home sick all week and the teen working through the second part of her dental treatment......funny old week really

So I thought I should catch you up on my list making  for the last couple of weeks....full of the lovely things that fight for thought space amongst the routine and pear shaped plans....

# a quiet house before anyone arises.

# serenaded to sleep by the crashing of waves.

# a teen keen to enter an op shop with her mumma.

# peaceful surrounding to relax in.

# watching the passing on of the fine art of preparing fishing rods.

# beach fishing in the rain....them not me!

# time to read guilt free.

# Sounds of dripping rain.

# catching the exact moment the the egg was laid.

# joint prayers for some decisions to be made.

# questions from the little guy about life and death.

# brave dental visits.

# walks to school with lots of chatting along the way.

# seeing other reach their potential despite what they think.

# a hug from an excited little person pleased to be back at playgroup after school holidays.

# a doctors appointment secured the same afternoon.

# smell of a freshly painted wall.

# smelling the change in the winds.

#130  prayers said for those caught amongst the raging fires of our country.

Wardrobe to study nook

A little project we the talented hubby and son undertook during the school holidays was turning a wardrobe full of junk into a study nook.....
Our  home has very little bedrooms and there was no  room for a desk in Fraser's room....we were getting tired of clearing off all his drawing stuff from the lounge and floor.

So now he has somewhere to draw, do homework or at least a place I can stick all his bits of paper.

This is what we started with...well I had already cleaned out most of the junk before this pic....
Lets face it he is a boy and not much was getting hung up in there anyways

Here is the rest of his junk....belongings from the inside...
So once it was cleaned out...the painting began....
The hubby made a simple desk at just the right height....

We then made a trip to IKEA and picked up a chair and mat...
a magnetic board....

Reused a pin up board we had lying around.....

Bought some hanging containers for pencils and bits and pieces....
A  times table chart  ......

and presto ...one happy little guy with his new space....
One happy mumma having somewhere to off load all the drawing creations....

We also purchase some little self adhesive battery operated LED lights and attached them under the top shelf, to light up the space should he need extra

He will outgrow this space but it buys us some time before we have to find other creative methods to create space in our home.

Weekend Snippets

This weekend was filled with....

* Celebrating the arrival of the first eggs...just one teeny tiny one a day but at least they are beginning to arrive.

* Discovering  an  unconventional way to use our smallish space to store some precious goods....If we were in an apartment they would be hung on a wall I am sure.

* There has been a marathon session of watching "The Little House on The Prairie" ...lasting three days and we haven't seen them all...we are now on the hunt to find the seasons we don't have. Why can something so simple take you back to being a little person and still have the power to make me cry like I was seven years old.....no actually I cry more now as a mother watching it.

* Putting the eggs to good use in some muffin making.

* Sponge fish to make a kids church lesson a little more fun.

* How much fun can you have with a cardboard box?

* A cousin afternoon creating with that cardboard box....I shan't tell you that at 8 years old the choice was making swords!!!

* While spying on three 8 year olds creating.... I discovered the makings of Spring in our garden.....

* While the boys were outside.....dad and daughter were inside making pasta.

* I had been sucked into another episode of "LHOTP" and I enjoyed listening to the banter between the pasta makers learning new skills.

* After church tonight we had fresh spinach, ricotta and bacon tortellini waiting to be served with the most delish creamy sauce....those pasta makers sure did themselves proud.....

Now who to invite over to share in the coming days so we have an excuse to make some more??

Another weekend slipped through our fingers....the last of these our school holidays....oh well I am sure the next lot of holidays are just around the corner.

Have a great week.
