Snapshots of our week

A few hours were spent at IKEA last weekend. Meg's friend had her 17th birthday there. A scavenger hunt followed by lunch in the cafe! They had a heap of fun finding and solving tasks set by the birthday girl. What was I to do but spend the few hours leisurely wandering and making decisions on what needed to come home with us.

The winners were two large mirrors. One for Meg's room and one for our lounge room. Both of which have now made themselves very at home.

My beanie from CarriesBeanies4BrainCancer arrived in the mail. Just in time for the cold snap that we have been having here. I love it and I know my big girl would have loved it too.

I have had a little time to read ... found this little book at a community bookshelf while waiting for my hot chocolate  down south during the school holidays. When I saw this book I remembered Fraser talking about having read it at school....it was an interesting short read.

We have had family pizza night...the best kind of pizza.

Being thankful for the golden eggs that our chicks give us daily.  Able to make last minute unplanned dinners of Frittata as a result.

Making the most of soccer training waiting ...reading in the car.

Our couple of oil diffusers are going overtime as we have sickness in the house and with working full time in classrooms filled with sick little ones we are doing all we can to ward of the germs and stop the spread.

Olympic fever is spreading. My class I relieved in the last two days was representing "Romania" in the Olympic school parade.
It has been a hectic two weeks of working full time and the weekends just seem to go so fast. It is a busy one this weekend but hopefully not before I get a little sneaky sleep in...or maybe that soccer game is an early one...doh!!!!

I have dabbled a little further than I normally would this week with social media. I have been playing around with Instagram...... reconnecting with some old friends and being a little instant in my sharing.....I am hoping it will actually inspire me to take those photos amongst the crazy days and that will translate to showing up here a little more.

Have a great weekend my friends

This Week

Monday began gloomy....heavy...wet....and seemingly hard to move through....one of those crawl back into bed and spend the day reading under the covers.......

but luckily I didn't cause I would have missed all of the good in the week to come...

A snail mail gift  from the gorgeous Catherine....a gift that arrived in perfect timing to lift the spirits....I love the friendships forged through this space.

Seeing ballet shoes back on our teen...the next leg of her journey to pursue her dreams.

Finding my teen at the sewing machine...stitching up something to keep her new shoes.

Slow Cooker Balsamic Beef for dinner....and lunch the next day

Slow Cooked Tomato Soup......also filled the spot through out the week.

Discovering this box....and upon lifting the lid I was transported back to my 15 year old self.....just wondering if there are some things in there that may help with my own 15 year old and her journey this week......maybe...  or should I just pop the lid back on and put the box back up in the back of the wardrobe.

It's been a week....keeping the lioness at bay.....holding my teens hand....being amazed at how amazing she is.....wondering if we are really doing it all right as parents....thinking that maybe we are on the right track......knowing we are really only beginning and this parenting thing is for the long haul.....

Check out Meghan's family adventure this week.

Things I am Loving

Wow what a funny week...school holidays, Easter holidays and then another long weekend for Anzac Day...hard to keep up with what day of the week it is.....

So here is my loves for the week ....

Road tripping with these guys.....off exploring uncharted ground...{well to us anyways}

Baking Anzac biscuits for the road trip and well because that's what you do in the days leading up to Anzac Day!

Then gifted some for a friend to go with the dinner I cooked for them....I used this cute printable on the packaging....

Go and check out this very heart touching story that Jo shares of a real Anzac.

I took Fraser to see the Lego Movie......I was a little concerned at the start that I had just paid for a 100 minute product placement add....but it really was a great movie and the messages were good ones...love the twist at the end.

Loving that it inspired some Lego creating when we got home.....

and we could all do with a little reminder from Kid President.....

Things I am Loving....

 This week.....

Sneaking a picture through our front screen door of Fraser playing footy in the street with one of our teen neighbours....he was so excited.....

The beauty in our garden...roses never cease to make me stop and smell them....

The beauty of a sunset this week......the rains did come.

Simple meatball pizza dinners to take the pressure of the end of a busy week....
{our gratitude writing tools close by for what has become a really nice way to finish our dinnertime}

A freshly baked and bought Boston Bun to share with my two sisters over a cup of tea...we had some celebrating to do....

Our wall of gratitude's growing.....it is not fancy to look at but if you get closer enough the writings speak volumes.....

Maybe like us you need some of this infuse into your inner beings.....

Things I am Loving

 This week....

Lists made by the little guy.....My favourite things to do.....I especially love number 6.....

It was written after a little driveway cricket was played between him and I....

We woke on Friday morning with the promise of some rain...to break our 106 or so day drought....the skies were dark , the clouds were spectacular.....

Then this was the sky by lunchtime.....and not a drop of rain seen this side of the city!!!

I sat in the quiet of the house and finished a gift I have been working on.....then straight to the post office it went.....hopefully the receiver will have a little smile when it arrives....

I love Fridays and the quiet of the house.....a day to try and do some pottering.....I indulged in some scrap booking...and of course lots of reminiscing...yay 2009 is documented!

There is always something in the garden that I seem to overlook....and then suddenly after what seems like such a short period of time.....there it is.....

Loving our new citrus/veggie patch that is almost complete and ready for winter veggies...it may be Kale this year.

....and this is so worth a watch......if you watch it over in YouTube you cab get the transcript ...even without that I think you can get the gist.......

Things I am Loving

 This week......

I am loving a creative motivated teen......

She has the urge to create....create things from something else...repurpose even.....sounds familiar.....ahhh maybe she has been watching me after all!
Anyways firstly she turned a pair of footless tights from her drawer into a top........

Then she set about to make a birthday gift for one of her good school friends.....

She is getting a bit of a reputation amongst her friends for coming up with unique and handmade gifts...they seem to really like what she comes up with too.....

So meticulously she cut out the stencil for an idea she had.....
 raided my fabric paint.......
and created this tee with a slogan that means something to her friend......

Not completely happy with only one project, she whipped up on my machine hair bows to adorn her friends hair....(she may have made a couple for herself while she was at it.....)

I am slightly impressed with her motivation, creative flair and the confidence to hand make gifts for her closest friends....

and her friends love their gifts too, I hear.. .yay beats heading to the commercial stores in search of perfect teenage gifts any day.
