Look what we made at Playgroup

Each year for the last four years we have made a piece of art to represent the families that have been with us throughout the year......
Last year we did hand prints, the year before we did a face collage.....

We have repeated that this year......

So many personalities......we got them to work on their own square....this year due to the numbers we had to make family squares .....otherwise we would run out of wall space to hang them all.......

Here is just a snapshot of some ...they make me smile just looking at them...knowing we have had another fantastic year at playgroup.......

Still a few more to do this week then I will tie them altogether in a wall hanging....

Playgroup Alphabet Crafts

Each week I run along with a very helpful team of volunteers, three playgroups on our church campus..... We have nearly 105 families come through during the week.

One of the things that we offer in the session is story time and a craft.

I love sourcing ideas for the craft each week that ties in with a story.....

This year I decided to tackle the alphabet.....

Thankfully the parents and children are loving it...not wanting to miss a week so as not to miss an alphabet to decorate at home with.

So we are now at the end of the term so I thought I would show you what we have done so far.......

C for Caterpiller

E for Eggs

an Easter craft in the middle...egg hunting bags....

another fill in week....the little red hen....

F for flowers

Two weeks break at the end of this week for school holidays...plenty of time to work on the next letters of the alphabet.

Crafty Catch up

We are almost done for the year with playgroup......
with approx 140 kids with their mums/grandmas/dads coming through the doors each week I now start to look forward to the summer break...

I love the sessions each week
the interactions between families
the relationships I have made with some gorgeous parents....

So to round up on the final couple of weeks for the year and so I have a way of remembering some of the fun stuff we have done here is the last few craft ideas we had....

An owl to go with our "Owl Babies " story....

A reindeer that we have revisited from a couple of years ago....
(see blogging has worked in my favor and my memory)

and Christmas trees made from spray painted jigsaw pieces...
(raided the op shops for my mass of pieces needed)

There are so many ideas to work with but just not enough weeks to complete them.....
there is always next year though....

I love Playgroup

It has been a while since I have noted down the fun we are having at playgroup.....this post is just as much for myself as it is sharing some fun ideas.

The weeks fly by so fast and I need a way of recording for future reference what we get up too...

I have always enjoyed playgroup....but now that my own kids are off at school and my paid job is to provide the environment and programme I love it even more......

{sand cakes for afternoon tea}

So some of the stories and crafts we have explored this term so far are........

...spring flowers...inspired by my niece Mya aged 2 years old

..... Fathers Day poem and hand prints

Rainbows

....Centipedes
.....Airplanes

Fishbowls

We are nearly at the end of Term three and then it is a fast run down to ......
Christmas!!!!

For the Birds....

I forgot to share with you the craft we made on the last playgroup for the term.......

One for the birds.......... to hang in a tree and watch the birds come.....

Well that's what I told the little children would happen.....

Surely... the birds would come to their gardens.....

My nieces took theirs home.....

A couple of days later my sister sent me these fantastic photos.......
I was so excited as I am sure my nieces would have been to see this bird cleverly feasting on the gift that was put out for him.......

I hope the other families have had as much success as my nieces did.

Note: Someone kindly pointed out  about peanut allergies....I did my checks with all families before we did the craft....I guess you could use some other sticky substance maybe sticky contact would work just as well.

A hunting we will go....

Start of the second week of school holidays today......

I did some searching through my button stash for a project that needs finishing......

My seven year old wanted to create a treasure hunt for his sister and the extra two we had over for the day......
I took a photo of his "stuff" for hiding and printed it out while he hid the "booty"

He then sent the girls off to search around the garden for the treasure according to the map....

Do you like to hunt for treasure?

This week at....

 PLAYGROUP.....

It has been a few weeks since I shared what we have been up to...I get so caught up being in the moment  I often forget to take photos of the fun we have...

Today we made paper bag kites.

After I convinced the mums that it really wasn't that tricky they had a great time.....

In fact I ran to get my camera on this occasion to try and capture the fun this little group of girls had with the twirling and spinning to make the wind for their kites.....

Not much wind was around today but I found a couple of kites hanging in the tree fluttering about....

 Such simple materials...

paper lunch bag
some string / wool
streamers
masking tape to strengthen the holes
hole punch.....

You really can make something interesting and fun from such little materials...
