Re-invented Treasures

Am I the only one that drops bags of goodies off at the op shop and then can't resist going in for a look and end up putting something back in the car?????

I picked up this white ceramic tray last week

combined it with

some of the crystal vases that I had gathering in the top cupboard

added to that

glass stones that were also scattered around the house
{some new ones purchased}

and finally

a quick grab of bougainvillea

and I have a nice sparkly centre piece.

I don't think it was all that bad that I brought that purchase home. x

Something I Bought

Something I bought  - Photo a Day

While out and about last week I managed to sneak into a Salvos store while the hubbie was in another shop....
What I bought was 5 large Vintage Fabric and lace Napkins.....

I have since had a play around with one and created this purse/pouch.
I  so enjoyed the process....this is my kind of sewing...slow ,individual and bringing something into a new life.......not much of a mass production girl or very fast and economical with my time but it does give me pleasure to do it my way.

never going to make my millions but if you are interested I have finally updated my little shop space.....
not a lot there, but just a place to put the few things I love to create.....
Sorry for the advert :-)

Rescued

Today I was lucky enough to visit my  local goodwill store and find something that was perfect for me to bring back to life.
After noticing that it was less than perfect I decided that I would take it home anyway...the kind lady at the counter was very embarrassed that it was defective and was horrified that it had made it onto the floor. After I convinced her that it was indeed perfect for me she reduced it quite heavily (yeah for me) .
I asked her what actually happened to the goods that were "rejected"..she told me that they get packed up and shipped to third world countries, even the broken things!!!
I know there is probably good intentions there but I was quite saddened to think that our richly resourced country was happy to send our "rubbish to those in poor countries of the world?
Yes I am sure they appreciate that which we don't but I think they still deserve more than the discarded!

Just "Cos

I'm just ducking out to the "Salvos" to take this bundle of "stuff" ...I'll be back in a few minutes!!!!

(My goods were too big to leave in  their outside bins so I had to enter the store.....)

It was just there ......how could I not bring it home?

It's Mine

You know you have a bargain worth buying when there are others hoping it was theirs...sounds serious doesn't it but it 's not really.
I take Meg to her dance class each Saturday afternoon and then use that opportunity to off load the week's decluttering at my local Salvos store.....Every week I say to myself "don't go in...you don't need to take anything home...after all you came to drop off the excess...right?"
But most times I don't listen to myself and head on in the doors. Sometimes there is clearly nothing so off I go but today...I scored this crock pot among some other things (I will show later).
I had three ladies in the store try and take it from the counter while I was in the process of purchasing it...It is a great large, and heavy locally (Quinninup) made pot that will be perfect for the winter cooking that lays ahead.

Something Old Something new

We have been waiting for the rain to visit us for awhile and it appears that it is here at last. What that then makes us realise is that we have no or very little warm clothes. This was especially the case for one 5 year old who has quite the growth spurt over the summer.
So what better fun than start searching on eBay for some bargains...these arrived today and they were a hit. Sometimes it is hard work to score any kind of bargain but other times it comes easy and we are rewarded with some great buys.....Fraser actually couldn't care less where they came from ....I think he is just pleased that he hasn't traipsed around a dozen stores looking and trying on.

Thrifted Pressie

On my trip to Tasmania ( I know I will stop going on about it soon) I found some really funky linen material that I just knew could be made into something much more useful than the out of date calender print on it.
So a friend of mine received for her birthday a set of coasters...well what else would you make?

Tea Anyone?

I made these coasters for a friends birthday. I used inspiration from my book to bust some of my thrifting stash.
