Stepping out....

Sometimes it is totally worth having kept something 32 years...just to see your 16 year old daughter wearing it.

Which Shoe?

 This week I did something I haven't done for a very long time......

Put myself in a unfamiliar situation.

With all the changes our family has undergone in the last 4 months it seemed that now was just the right time to make another adjustment.....

I have stepped out and taken on a new role outside of the home....and this one doesn't involve play dough or paint!

I am excited if not a little overwhelmed at learning something new.

Yes it has been a little crazy with the scheduling this week

But I have great support behind me and encouraging me to stretch and try those new things...

and best of all I have a girl who is keen to see me succeed and is right on hand to help me decide the important things ...like which shoes were the best to complete the look I needed to step out into this new adventure with.

Ok ...hand over the camera!

Long before I was a "Blogger" I was a photographer {amateur of course}.....I even worked a job in a photographic lab while at uni...then spent a year working for a school photographic company...

Now as a wife and mum I am the chief photo taker of the family......the historian, the taker and keeper of memories, recorder of events....good and bad.

I am a scrapbooker from way back and most recently a blogger........

So I am all too familiar with the " no photos of the photographer" ....situation

One day we won't be here...{sorry to be so morbid} there will be very little record of who we were...what we looked like...who we looked like......

Who doesn't like looking back at their ancestors and seeing family likeness or traits that make them related to us?

So take the challenge and hand the camera to someone else.....take a risk that they may snap some pics of you......

I did........

As much as I would rather be the one taking the pics....I am grateful for the photos taken of me.....

It gives me a chance to look at myself a little closer....see what others see...see the age lines that make me, me....see why people say my daughter is a mini me.......

I looked at these pics and saw some of the stories that make me who I am....

You don't have to go public with the photos but do let them be taken...if not for you then for your kids, and the generations to come who will want to see the piece in the family tree that is you.

Thanks to my hubby for taking these pics and about 50 more.....even though I protested somewhat...I am glad he persisted.

Weekend Snippets

 This weekend....

* Catching the morning sun.

* A trip to the library to get ready for back to playgroup this week.

* Digging through child health records for dates of immunisations for the many school forms needed

* The afternoon sun through the front

* How is it that this guy was missed in the pack up?

* Loving my new pre-loved  top

* The colour on my toes takes me straight back to being on holidays.

* A quick sneaky selfie.

 * It may be the festive season but in this family we have plenty of birthdays to celebrate too.....

* and just so my family will be happy ...cause I am more than happy to put their pretty faces on here and not my own!...happy now family????

Homemade remedy

I haven't been feeling all that well the last couple of months.....

I finally headed to the Dr's today and the possible reason is IBS

hmmm

helpful to know maybe...is their any real instant fix.....no

Now you also need to know I live with a fit guy....

he runs,rides and swims with some ease....

He offered me a remedy that he assured me would help with how I am feeling.....

Jump on your bike and go with him while he ran ......

not my idea of making me feel better at all....

but I could see he meant well and was up for the company....

Verdict... not as bad as I thought....a cure? maybe not but he may have a point that some exercise might be just what my body needs....

meanwhile I will be trying to implement some other ideas to help with how I am feeling...

Any suggestions?

Oh what a beautiful day it was.  

Today....

 

 

Today would have been the perfect day for you to come for a cuppa......

 

I was home all day..

Without a car even....

 

Well except when I walked Fraser to school and stayed for a bit to change the readers...

 

oh then I walked to the shops to pick up some shower cleaner...

 

But then I was home....

 

I baked some Raspberry Coconut Slice from my Woman's Weekly cookbook - one of the first cookbooks I ever owned....

 

I had a cuppa in the quiet and thought about the week ahead...

 

Thought about a nephew that is coming to stay for a few days...

and the forty hour famine being tackled on the weekend....

 

about the arrangements that need to be made for Fathers Day celebrations

 

about the Fathers Day craft for playgroup this week....

 

I pondered and added to my growing list for the "Sort It"  attempt I will make in September....

 

 

I even put fresh sheets on our bed and did a few loads of washing....

I wiped all the finger marks off the french doors ...

 

and set a new loaf of bread in the bread machine.....

 

did a little blog hopping and sent an email or two....

 

Gave some thought to dinner and what may grace our table.

 

read a few pages from the latest book I am reading....

 

Monday needed to be a day to think through the rest of the week...

 

but I would have put the kettle on again if I knew you were coming.....

Today

To be very honest...

Today

I could have stayed in bed....

BUT

  

I had a little guy to hang out with me...

(well he was supposedly sick so was banished to his bed for the first part)

I sewed and he drew......

some days are just like that.....

I suddenly see and feel more like my mum when I study my hands........ 

  

I am also reminded that I must have my engagement ring repaired and get it back where it belongs, between my wedding ring and mum's eternity ring!

Work to be done

Yesterday I read over at Make It Perfect about her untidy crafting space.......I thought if only mine looked that untidy I would be happy!

So I am showing you these today for the reason of accountability....now I really must do something about it, seeing now that I have admitted how much of a mess it is in.....

I don't think the creative mess thingy will carry for much longer!

Weekending

 The weekend was full of 

Busy Bees at church

Pedicures with Meg
Filling out high school applications for next year

Engagement party attending

Nana naps and a couple of church services thrown in as well

Today was all about recovery mode for the house and for me...a little parent help in Fraser's class, A lot of housework and dirty dishes to be attended to ...lunch with my sister and dad.. weekly food shopping . and now onto the finishing of my playgroup prep for tomorrow and some playdough making.

Unfortunately I couldn't squeeze any crafting in  which is what I would love to have been doing instead of housework, that a few hours later has all reappeared again.

I nearly forgot..I won two, yes TWO blog giveaways over the weekend. I will share when they arrive. WOOHOO

 

Is it really only Monday? Oh well here's to a good week hope yours is too.

Attire Dilemma over???

There was another reason to head out yesterday afternoon...remember my wedding attire dilemma? Well with the wedding just one week away, I was still undecided if my plans were going to come off....A while ago I saw a shop mentioned over here and thought I would check it out one day....well that day was yesterday and too my lovely surprise there was another fantastic shop right next door.....

With half expecting to not have any luck I headed inside ...and look what I found....

My size perfectly...a little sleeve which was a must.....long (not a mini) which was another requirement for me....now just to find my girdle the perfect under garment!!!

I couldn't resist this crocheted cardigan either...

...the boys waiting to give there once over and stamp of approval.

There has been no alarm

There has been no set time

There has been no set path

But I have put on my shoes and have been out walking before the others rise.......

I have noticed things.....

the run down house has a sold sign on it...

the   school's demountables are being readied for moving.

the neighbour checks for graffiti on his wall every morning

the galahs were chatting about the looming dark clouds...

There is no pressure to do or not to do but while it lasts I will continue to notice things around me.

Miss Me?

We have just returned from a few days of fun in Melbourne..(by we I mean Derek and I...and by fun I mean he competed in the Melbourne 1/2 Marathon)

I can't wait to share some of the things we got up to but I have one little hitch....

We lost my camera pouch along the way which held my USB cable to download my photos!!!!!

I am so sad and have been scouring online for a replacement.

But right now I need to do some unpacking and thinking about preparations for tomorrows job.

I will be back to tell all soon.

Break in Transmission

All extra -curricula activities on hold while I deal with a rogue wisdom tooth.

Rainbows

In all the business of life this week I have seen rainbows....the weather has become quite unseasonal and there have been some lovely displays of colour in the grey skies.

Fraser bringing home this painting yesterday just reminds me to take a breath , look up and see what is around me .......all the while fulfilling the myriad of roles and responsibilities that are staring me in the face.

Friday

Today being Friday....my day at home by myself.....a little time spent on some much needed housework, a little washing to hang and then it was on to.....

some scraps stash busting...

to create something that I have been playing around with ....

and so the weekend begins......

Up Early

I have decided to try something ...that is getting up earlier than I have been!

The purpose......to spend a few moments if not longer trying to set myself for the day ahead.

I am working on ridding some of the "hurry" from my life!
