Weekend snippets

This weekend.....

These photos remind me that ......

There was a garage sale held at my sisters...

I snaffled a lot of her books she was trying to sell

There was a One Direction concert to go to...

An Australian Rules Football grand final to watch

and rain to dodge most of the weekend too.....

What the photos don't show is

There was dance and youth groups to drive kids to

The sleepover with a cousin that resulted in a very early start on Sunday morning...

That was after the really really late night waiting for the teen to return from the concert

Did I mention the anticipation and excitement at seeing "One Direction"!!!

The book finished being read while waiting for the teen to come home...

Three church services

A dance festival competition

The disapointment of some harsh judging

The tears because every one is so tired....... and we are just beginning the school holidays

The excitement at heading to the Royal Agriculture Show tomorrow

The relief from the parents, that the grandparents are taking the kids to the show......

We have a public holiday tomorrow and it is school holidays.....hopefully the rain eases up and the kids have a great time at the show......we on the other hand are going to enjoy the quietness of home

Things I am Loving

This week......
A dozen eggs  from my dad's chickens......willing ours to lay soon. It was so good not to have to buy store eggs.

Sharing chocolate to celebrate the last day of the school term.

Choosing subjects was a lot easier than I thought....maybe there is more to come....can't believe we have a nearly Year Ten kid.

Discovering old instruments of torture relaxation...and teaching the kids to hit just the right spot on a sore backed mumma

Loving the colours that daisies place in our garden....

They are really the lazy gardeners plant but fill so many spots with instant colour.

Despite the rank weather we have many signs of Spring in the garden..

Even the tomatoes are thriving.

and lastly this one for the "directioner " in our family....

My Creative Space

I made something!!!!

It has been so long since I have sat at my machine and made anything..(well except for the  100 pencil cases or library bags that is  )

I took an old pair of jeans that didn't fit right.......

a piece of fabric

a pair of scissors

I love it.....a new skirt that is perfect for the end of our very dreary Winter and will serve me well into Spring and Summer ...when they finally arrive.

Oh it feels good to have created something new to wear ....especially re-purposing something from my wardrobe.

Simple Appreciation

Most of the people I work with in my job as Children's Pastor at my church are volunteers.....

Volunteers make the world go round smoothly did  you know that?

Volunteers make heavy work - light...

I have a fantastic team that make my job easier, more fun and certainly more rewarding.

This is the last week of our school term so I put together a simple little thank you for my playgroup team volunteers......
They need to know that they are valued, invaluable in the tasks they do every week as a volunteer.

....and who doesn't like a little chocolate to hide away and indulge in when no-one else is looking?

This weekend

Our Soccer season finished with a carnival on is really lovely that kids have that innate ability to over look disorganisation when there is the opportunity to have a bundle of fun. Luckily the weather held off but was soon to impact the rest of the weekend.
The soccer boots have now been hung up.

The candles , best dinner set and the silverware got a good run again this weekend as we entertained....

Some important fashion shopping had to be done in readiness for a teen's big date with her pop idols next weekend....I so get overwhelmed by the amount of choice in despite me so not being the shopper we had a successful outing.

Trying to shake a very sore back and get head ready for the last week of the term ...a few days booked  to get away....sadly nothing as exotic as our last holiday but some time away together to refresh the soul.

Hope your week is a good one. xxx

Things I am Loving

This week.....

How fast are these weeks going???

We have had a vast array of rainbows this much rain  and un-Spring like conditions

Slow cooked chicken burritos for dinner....recipe here

Spying snails enjoying the combination of the rain and the brief sun appearances...where do the snails hang out when it is dry I wonder.

Are you a denim wearer? you might like this.....

I have continued to make lists of the gifts in my day......

#  an almost wobbly tooth

#  some problem solving puzzles being conquered

# eavesdropping on a phone conversation between a boy and his grandpa

# talking to my dad on the phone

# explaining to someone why I was crouched down taking a photo of a snail in my street...good for mental health noticing the small things.

# a few minutes to visit a sister

# enough food cooked to share with others

# after a day at work, taking the long way home along the beach road

# constant show of rainbows

# having kids that are now capable of babysitting themselves

# gathering photos that remind me of when those kids were too little to babysit themselves

# hearing my dad's plan for his next adventure

# new shoes putting the bounce in the boy

# the excited chatter of a teen counting down the days until she sees her favourite"pop stars"

#70 hearing of some one's journey back to church.
