Backyard Blitz Day 4

Our plans to pick up our new garden shed were thwarted today due to an impending storm....so with everything in place for that task we abandoned and continued on with the paving.....

I said we....I made muffins for snacks and I did some "hard yakka" as you can see I was snapped in action...

Even though Derek was absolutely "done" he kept on for just that bit more..that's my guy...rain, hail or dark!!!

Backyard Blitz Day 3

Today there was a lot of back breaking bending going on.....

Slowly the area is being transformed into a much more usable space.
I am glad that today was my final work day for the week I don't think my house could survive another day ...the kids have been brilliant at amusing themselves ....but the fun they have had has slowly spread right through the house.
There also has been no controller of wiping feet as you go inside!
Tomorrow I will try and show you photos of the very creative endeavors going on inside ..some home decorating of their own.

Backyard Blitz Day 2

This was the scene as I had to leave for work this morning....

someone was happy to be playing with this today!

and this was what I came home to at the end of the day...

everyone was busy, busy, busy.

The end of another day...time to soak in the bath and take in some of the Tour while thinking about all that still needs to be done tomorrow!

Backyard Blitz

The kids are not the only ones on holidays...Derek has taken two weeks leave from work, in part to take a break from some long hours in the office and partly to work on our backyard project.
Following on from our new fence a few weeks ago we now have the task of preparing for a new shed and the arrival of some "chooks".
Unfortunately before we can get to any of the fun stuff there is some back breaking work that needs doing.....

An extra pair of hands is never to far away...

Some big holes needed to be dug....

All went quiet at one stage so I went to investigate....oh my gosh ...but dad was up there so what was mum worried about right????!!

I have to go to work tomorrow I can only imagine what will go on in my absence...especially with the arrival of the digger!

Made to order

I managed to complete the next two aprons required for our church hospitality team ....we had a celebration lunch today in which they served very delish soups and rolls.
Apparently they received lots of compliments on their aprons which is always a relief to know that something you have created is appreciated and maybe even admired.
I will have a couple more to design over the next couple of weeks to fully kit them out as a team.

Celebrations

School Holidays are here!!!!!!
We are celebrating the holidays arrival as well as both Meg and Fraser achieving their swimming level and also bringing home great reports.
Pizza making for dinner....

and getting to snuggle under blankets to watch a family favourite....

were how we chose to mark the occasion.
Now the plan for the next two weeks is to go a little slower and not leave the house before the sun has warmed things up....(well it's good to have a plan)

A new favourite

I am not one who is really into game shows with silly games but this one has caught my attention......and that of our whole family.

I can see all those who run kid's programmes just loving the long list of games that can be so easily played and used to entertain kids....this is one Children's Pastor who will be trying one or two this Sunday!

Such Concentration

There has been a lot of this in the last few weeks........

Yesterday we found an old table and set up all his pencils and paper in one place.....he has been so busy drawing and colouring in all over the house we were being swamped by paper piles. So now he can draw and colour to his hearts content in his own defined space.

Finished

Meg headed off to a sleepover on Saturday night.It was a friend from schools birthday so a present was needed.
I set to work to make a bag that hopefully would be loved by an eleven year old.....

Also over the weekend I had the chance to finish sewing in all the loose ends on my granny square rug...just in time for the very chilly nights we are experiencing. Although we have heating, there is nothing like curling up on the couch with a blanket.
We did a lot of this over the weekend....curling up on the couch watching movies.

22 Years

I hardly recognise these two .....
so young and naive about the road ahead...

But 22 years today we have travelled a road that hasn't always been straight, has never had boring scenery and it has never had signs along the way to indicate speed, direction, hazards, road blocks or rest points.
Maybe if it had we would never have begun such a journey at the tender ages of 20 and 23....but we did and I could never have picked a more perfect for me person to have traveled the road with.
Well my soul mate, I am looking forward to the rest of the journey even if there is little or no signage ahead.
