Save the roses

Yesterday we discovered (all- be-it 4 days too late) that the flower farm next to our church's property were giving away all their rose bushes. I went in for a look late in the afternoon and discovered that just the really rejected ones were left. But from what I know of roses they are really hardy and I thought I would take my chances, besides I have a husband that likes a challenge.....

Hoping that in no time at all they will look just like the other roses residing in our garden.......

We Found Terabithia

We found this really cool place today that reminded us of the forest that is in the movie "Bridge to Terabithia".
We did look out for giants but all we found was "Treasure".

This was a dieback protected area so required us to scrub the boots!

Now I promised you yesterday that if you stuck around for my 150th post I would have something to giveaway...

Scrapbooking

I took a few hours out today to join some friends for some scrapbooking. I don't seem to be overly productive these days but it is good to catch up with friends.

My scrapbooking has to be all about the photos and not so much the fancy footwork around them otherwise I will never keep up with the demand...

And after reading this book this week I have realised half of my problem is I am overwhelmed with "stuff"....so with the help of this great book I am on a mission to lighten my load around here and achieve a lighter existence.....you can hold me to that if you like!!

And because you have hung around for almost 150 posts..I have something to give someone so come back tomorrow and check it out...can't guarantee what time tomorrow though.

We Went To The Zoo Today.

Fraser's Kindy Class went off to the zoo as they have been looking at Australian animals in class.
It was a great day although a bit hot and steamy, not that it bothered any of the 4 year olds.

Gifts to Make

My sister has come to the rescue and lent me her sewing machine while mine is having a well needed service.
Tonight I have just finished an apron that is going off to Tasmania and then I need to finish some goodies to head off to Christmas Island for ...Of course Christmas time!

Exploring in the sunshine

Every second Monday Derek has a rostered day off which is really nice to have the option of playing catch up after the weekend. Sometimes he has a list of things he wants to get done for him sometimes -like this Monday we went exploring 5 different locations around our neighbourhood.
Of course we were guided by the location of some caches...but who really minds what the motivation was we discovered some really lovely pockets of nature right on our doorstep.

We picked Meg up from school and did the last two spots together so she didn't miss out altogether.

Celebrating with fun

This whole weekend we have been celebrating 17 years of our church being around. We call this Celebration weekend in which we had a dinner on Saturday night and then a family fun day today.
It has been a great weekend of sharing with friends and celebrating the community we have.
What would a celebration be without this....

Fraser was very keen to do some cooking, he was very insistent that we make the scones using the lemonade that was in the fridge. He knew the lemonade was bought for the scone making because he had been trying to convince me to share some with him.
So together we used this great recipe and produced these very yummy Lemonade scones.

Do you have one of these fantastic inventions to store your warm scones in? I use mine all the time- it was something my mum made for me when I first got married and it continues to be used all this time later. It is really designed for carrying casseroles or the like while they are hot- great for that meal you have prepared to take to someone or else it's just great for piping hot scones to rest in.

Growing Up

My sister sent me these photos today of her kids and mine at the beach during the school holidays.
Looking through the eyes of the camera made me realise how much they are growing up - especially that caring 10 1/2 year old.
