The wedding of some friends

The Dilemma:

What is 1968 attire, where would I find something that suits and doesn't cost me the earth?

The Possible Solution:

Take one rescued tablecloth and add a vintage slip that belonged to my mum...

maybe some velvet added somewhere....

maybe I have created something that may pass as 

Best 1968 Attire....I'll let you know in a couple of weeks.

Sneak some time

Look what was in my mailbox today.......

Where did the last month disappear too?

Anyway my copy of this magazine arrived today ( thanks again sisters!)

Now just to sneak some time to have a read....that is before I feed the tribe...currently I have 3 playing on electronic games and three playing lego....and one to yet return from work...that's what families are for!

New Friends

I am fairly new to the whole blogging thing....I visit lots of places, sometimes leaving comments, sometimes admiring from afar.

I have found it at times a bit intimidating commenting at blogs that have a huge following...irrational probably not sure why I think like that...

I am now being a little braver with my interactions and have enjoyed the little banter back and forth.

Today in my snail mail box was this lovely little gift from Michelle...

I had been so bold to ask her for a pattern of an art smock she had shown...

and in her kindness she sent me a copy, so wrapped in vintage "delightfulness".

Thanks Michelle for your simple act of sharing ...new acquaintances are fun to have.

Monday Monday

Monday came....

Late rising out of bed opting not to go for my walk this morning
Lunches made and walked kids to school

Skype call with my youngest sister and two nieces in Tasmania 

Coffee date with my Hubbie
Attempted a half hearted search for an outfit for a wedding coming up

Fridge wiped and cleaned out in readiness for shopping

Food shopping done

Noodles bought for lunch

washing hung out

Floors vacuumed and mopped

Bathroom cleaned

Christmas lights boxed and removed out of the hallway

Walk to pick the kids up

Suck on another icy pole (lost count how many)

Continued to blow my nose (also lost count how many times today)

Dinner prep done

Neighbourhood kids in and out

Air conditioner going most of the day

....still need to bring in washing

still need to have family fed ,bathed and in bed ( me first!)

Oh I wish I was here .....snow on Mt Wellington in Feb! 16 degrees max!

Not likely today or...tomorrow ...or the next day so for now just trying to keep cool anyway we can.

Little duck

This little duck feels like she has got some storms brewing around her and the pond is far from quiet....

what to do but keep paddling and reaching out to help other little ducks who's ponds are rougher.

Home and hearts

I am home laying low today as I am feeling a little under the weather- not a lot just enough to warrant some me time out of the heat..

A good time to finish my hearts that I started ( I used this tutorial) ...I turned them in to a string of hearts to hang above the TV in our living area.

Don't you love photos that just show you what you haven't noticed before...like the bike cleaning gear that has been tucked away there and also how dirty the TV screen is!

Well nearly time for the busy Friday afternoon schedule so I am off to prepare for that ..oh and wipe down the TV and find another place for the cleaning gear!

Ours is looking very unloved and over heated at the moment unlike the garden done by one of my playgroup littlies...what more fun can a child and parent have when there is paint,glue and glitter involved.

At least this guy is loving the hot weather in our garden.

A Simple ring

Daddy's Son

Tonight after much searching through his tape collection...he found just what he was looking for....

We are now listening to the guitar sounds of Gary Moore belting at high volume from our nearly six year old son's bedroom.....

I knew it would happen one day just did not expect it to be so soon....then what did I expect as he has spent his whole short life sleeping next to dad's studio falling asleep many nights to the guitar playing sounds coming from within.

My Creative Space

My Creative space is filled with Birthday sewing....we have a 12th birthday in our house on the weekend and we are in the process of planning the party. ( A beach picnic) So last night I was onto the little gifts for the guests...
The inspiration came form my baby sister who sent Meg her birthday present yesterday....
Thanks Renae she loves it and I love that you gave me the perfect idea for guest gifts.

Read and Tea

For my birthday my beautiful sisters bought me a subscription to this magazine....my first issue came the other day and it is so full of lovely things to read and see.

My youngest sister says that it is quite by chance that it has a lot of stories relating to her home state {Tasmania} hmmm - not that I mind one bit because that would be a very close second place for us to live if we had to move!
I especially love the first featured story of a crafter turned blogger turned success story. Very inspiring

Looking forward to this mail arriving in my box for the next twelve months.

Lucky Me...

Not only did I get to indulge in a chocolate morning tea with my sister last week....today I was able to take my man there for more yumminess..

You see I am very fortunate that my hubbie works a nine day fortnight and we have made it a priority to have coffee (for him) and chocolate (for me) on his Monday off. It is a lovely time to touch base and hash out anything we just have put aside during the busy week.
Now the children are back at school it is even more special ..during the holidays we just took the kids with us.
So today's conversations included brainstorming birthday present ideas for an up and coming 12th birthday!

So maybe now the secret is out at how good this little chocolateria is...go and try for your self if you live in our local area.

(Note: they are nation wide , find one near you .You won't be disappointed especially if you  order the Churros.)

A lazy afternoon with some prep for Playgroup to finish off.

It's Friday

I had arranged to meet my sister for a coffee Hot Chocolate...after all she needed her mind taking off the fact that her fourth and last boy headed off to Kindy without too much sadness!!

So we checked out a little place that does very wicked  chocolate sweetness.... 

Once we finished lingering  we then parted ways because I was on a mission to get home...

I had a list of things to tackle and ended up settling on some new bedding for the dollies.

You see my " job" outside of the home involves amoung other things, running two large playgroup sessions. I absolutely love this and am looking forward to all the families returning next week to start the year.

But as the start date looms there is a huge amount of preparing ,setup and organising that needs to be done.

One of those was to gather some extra accessories for the home corner.

"Stash busting 101" was activated and I managed to put together a couple of sets of bedding including a couple of little mattresses....and a couple of doll blankets that just happen to have quilt pieced tops. I am in no way a quilter but have dabbled  a little, enough to have some pieces I could turn into a blanket ( not quilt).

Hopefully it will encourage some lovely playing when they arrive next week and also the children that we see on Sunday will benefit from the additions.
Well I am now off to start a new Friday afternoon routine and I am not sure how many km's in the car it will take me to do it.

We are off..

...to a flying start...well almost.

Meg was happy to join her new class and all that awaits her for Year Seven!!! ( oh my how did that happen?)

Fraser has his usual hesitations...a few tears and some tight hugs for mum....I encouraged him and reinforced to him that Year One was a great adventure and that he would have some friends to do the journey with.

Once I saw a slight smile I left him to get on with it....

At the end of the day they were both full of tales and I am sure that when tomorrow comes the tales will just continue.

I got mail

I arrived home from work today to a parcel......one of my most favourite things ( to receive snail mail)

A couple of weeks ago I bid in a few auctions that were being held as part of the Flood Relief Fundraisers....

Well I won  these lovely luggage tags from here.

I have made some myself before but I never keep things so it is just special to have something handcrafted by  someone else....

So thanks Alison , I love them.....
