We just dropped out for a week....we took our first trip to Bali....the kids first overseas trip....

we had a great time......no phones....no Internet....no schedule.....

we spent some time looking around.......lots of time in the water......

I practised walking slower.......thinking slower.......eating slower....enjoying the friendly and 

very hospitable Balinese people.....  

We tasted new things...saw new things......smelt new things.......met new friends....

So much to record here.....I'll pop back tomorrow with a little more. xxx

Having just had the most awesome week...and finding this over at MNM's this morning....

I know WE CAN make a difference.....

Camp Day 5

Well the week flew by......so many fun memories created.....

So many friendships forged....

Some little lives impacted by the kindness of strangers who took time to care.....

We had the most perfect weather today to enjoy yet some more fun games, craft,drama,singing,food and friends.....

Watching shy little ones perform ....older ones helping younger ones....younger ones loving the friendship of older kids.....

Culminating in the parents sharing in the best of for the week....we sang for them and showed them what their kids had been so excited about all week....and then ate together...

I am so tired and my knees are causing me grief from jumping all week.....would I be willing to head this up all over again......

YOU BET  ...JANUARY 2014 here we come.....

but right now it is off to bed and a long sleep in tomorrow....

Camp Day 4

Our theme this week is pirates and treasures we can store up......

We have spent a lot of time in small groups and used many moments to encourage and teach some important truths about storing up long lasting treasures.....

friendship, kindness, generosity, faithfulness......

memories that will last for a long time.... 

We treasure hunted today.......for the pot of coloured jewels.....
 

With trusty treasure maps we came across many a pirate  until we challenged ourselves through to the treasure find.....

The joy this week has been found in the kids....the friendships forged ,the braveness of many, the sweetness of others.....

 ...the dedication of volunteers has been second to none....they have energy beyond thought...
oh so rewarding and we know we are making a difference in our community.

Camp Day 3

A much cooler day today... we had planned for "Wet and Wild" theme day which was helped out by the little showers we had throughout the day......

 We have 50 children enrolled in our programme this week....aged between 5 and 13 years old....

The day is action packed with many activities.....craft, drama,games, sports,lots of music, specialised activities each day.....

Fraser is a "camper" ...Meg an assistant leader.....

We are using the "Camp Sonshine International" model and have some wonderfully skilled and passionate ambassadors from the USA here to help us run our very first "day camp " week....

We begin the day at 7.30am preparation time.....campers arrive at 8.30....leave at 4.30 pm and we have arrived home any where after 6pm each day.......

We have jumped, danced, slid, played, sung, run, ate and adventured all through each day.....

We have had many volunteers help make our first Camp Sonshine experience an awesome one.....

Today was what we called "hump Day"....all tired and a  little stretched out of  our comfort zones.....

But there is always tomorrow to go and have all the fun all over again.....

Camp Day 2

Another scorcher in our town today.....

The show went on anyways with a troop full of keen, eager and energised bunch of kids..... 

We finished the day by taking our American house guest to take in the sun setting on another action packed day.....

I haven't felt this tired in a long while......

A cooler day on the way tomorrow!

off to get my beauty sleep in preparation for tomorrow.
