Home Again

We have just arrived home from a quick trip to Melbourne. Derek and a good buddy decided to compete in the Melbourne 1/2 Marathon. We spent a couple of days in and about the city. With bags to unpack I will share more over the next couple of days.

The highlight was running the last leg on the hallowed MCG.....
Well Done! We are proud of you!

How To Iron a Hankie

Do you remember having someone show you the finer art of ironing a hankie?
When Meg wanted to do some ironing the other day I had a very vivid memory of my mum showing me exactly what I was going to teach Meg.
Spray with some water, iron right to the edges, fold in half and in half again and finally one more fold and then iron flat.
A skill she may not grow to love but will certainly learn to perfect at a faster pace over the years to come.
I am amazed at the simple things that I find myself teaching my children, that were taught to me at the same age.

Busy in the Sunshine

We headed out early today on a cache hunt because we are now mindful of the other creatures that are moving around in the bush now the sun is high in the sky (shhhhhhhhhhh snakes-we don't mention that word around Fraser because he won't get out of the car otherwise)
One for Fraser....
One for Meg...
Evidence of the some of the inhabitants in the area....
We stopped in to get just two things and as you can see, we came out with many more items than planned...
Our last stop before heading home to put all those bought items in their rightful places.

Thankfulness

I am Thankful for....

My devoted husband
My beautiful children
Rich colourful memories of a beautiful girl
The safety of my home
An inspiring place to find God
Supportive parents
A creative spirit
Friends to laugh with
The sun shine
A holiday to look forward to
The opportunity to be generous
Sisters that are different yet just like me
Tomorrow to plan for.

Colossians 3 v 15b.........And cultivate thankfulness....

Seeing Clearly

No we haven't developed chronic eye problems overnight! We did go and see "G-Force" the new 3D kids movie at the cinemas today.
3D movie watching has come along way since the last time I saw one. This was a great experience and the glasses were really cool to wear. These glasses, of which we now have four pairs may come in handy one day for some addition to a fancy dress costume.

Signs of Spring

How really clever are the creatures that can weave such a thing together with so many different materials?

Day of Rest

As the mummy in the house I used my" mummy intuition" today and declared it a Day of rest! After a busy few days I felt we needed to have some time at home to amuse ourselves quietly.
But first we had some collaborative housework to do...yes even Fraser cleaned and vacuumed his own room ( he did a very good job too)
With a little rest after lunch it was decided by themselves that some cooking needed to be done. So without any assistance from myself they made some Chocolate Crackles.

It was the perfect day to be home after the weekend where we saw a little too much of the sun, it was only 12 degrees today and wet -Derek took the car to work which helped with the being stuck at home thing. ( all part of my plan)
Asked why Fraser was putting on his slippers as he headed out the door later this afternoon..."my feet are cold". Never mind the knees!

Walk for Miles

What to do with 6 kids and 4 big people on an overcast public holiday...go "treasure hunting" of course.
We set off for the adventure of finding 11 hidden clues that would lead to the final destination.
The distance covered some by car but most by foot would be 12km
Surprisingly from the biggest to the littlest they kept up pace till the end.
With a brief stop for lunch in the middle...
It was on to find the "treasure"
One big happy family and some very tired peoples heading home for some rest after 4 hours on the hunt
Great time had by all. Lets do it again soon!

A New Discovery

It was a fabulous day today..quite warm by the afternoon. After church we headed to a local spot that we had never been to...The Baldivis Children's Forest. We met some friends there and set out to find the "Treasure "that lay in waiting.
We met some locals along the way....

These guys didn't move an inch as we moved past them..they watched us as we watched them..

And Bingo the "treasure "was found...

Another place we have had right under our noses and never taken the time to visit.

A Day in September

We met Derek after his ride at one of our favourite places to wander...

We called in to visit my Dad in hospital and wish him well....then headed over to Cicerellos and the boat harbour for an early lunch...

Check out these jellyfish in the harbour!

A great way to begin the school holidays and soak up some Spring weather..
