Foodie Day

Something the kids have wanted to do forever....now was the day....

Then we lunched at the coolest Diner in the mountains.....

and finished with a stroll around a quaint mountain town...with another view that was captivating....

Falling Waters

{ Buderim Forest}

Meg was in heaven today...we all felt like we had hit the jackpot today with this beautiful rainforest walk....it included waterfalls, lush greenery, birds and it was so quiet.....except for the energetic ten year old.
The best bit ....finding this gem and discovering it with our friend who had never visited here before either.
Meg has vowed to return here in the summer when it would be warm enough to swim in the falls.

On returning to our lovely friends apartment we met the local friendly natives.....

Beach Side

Someone forgot to tell this part of the country that it is supposed to be chilly.....we enjoyed the most beautiful day exploring another part of the coast line of our huge country.

That sun setting over mountains is still a fascination for us.

We all feel like this week has gone so slow.....hmmm just how we like it. x

New Old Friends

Today we moved from our lovely little holiday spot for the last 5 days....and headed north.

I handed over the camera today and let my family loose with it.....so this is some of the day through their eyes.....

While my family were entertaining themselves I was sitting chatting , hot chocolate in hand with a new  but old friend.....

Catherine and I have been blogging friends for a few years...and today was the chance we had to meet in person and chat to our hearts content. It was sooooo lovely and we actually had more in common than I thought.

My kids asked me whether Catherine was just like I thought she would be.....yes she was...it was such a special time to be able to be in her part of the country and chat like we were old friends......

Thanks family for indulging me in meeting with a friend.....and for capturing our afternoon in the Botanical gardens in pictures.

All themed out

Well we have been there and done that...another fun day seeing lots of very clever creatures....a little water fun thrown in for good measure...

But we are clearly ready to move on to the next leg of our little holiday. I kept thinking the next time the kids are back here it may be with their own....

We have loved our almost first week in this fairly "glitzy" part of town that wasn't too far from the mountains and the beach on our doorstep.

Memories being tucked away as each minute passes.

A change of pace

When here...you might as well join them.

It was certainly a change of pace from the last couple of days.

I must say I was so surprised at who chose to be brave and daring.

Drawn back to the mountains

Maybe it is because we live near the beach...mountains are new sights for us...the beauty of being so high.....

We were drawn back today......

We didn't track down any waterfalls sadly but the highlight of the day would have been the journey to the top on those mountainous, windy roads.

Exploring away from the city

We left the rush of the city behind today.....

Fresh air and bush walking is good for the soul.....

On the other siide

It is a little confusing gazing out over the ocean and watching the sun go down behind us....

No complaining here though.

The Cardboard Box

 Have you ever had to do it.....who am I kidding everyone must have...and I am sure there are some of you who have done it a few times and now see it as no big deal.....

I am talking about bringing home the cardboard box...or boxes as is the case in this house.

The cardboard box containing a huge assortment of things representing a life lived in an office away from home....

I was to discover in the boxes that have been brought home this week....

* Half of my diminished cutlery drawer
* Mugs that I haven't  seen for a very long time
* Bowls and cereal canisters
* A meercat or two {don't ask!}
*Photo frames with favourite family photos displayed
* Nerf Guns and a full quota of ammunition - one can only guess how much fun was had at the office......

* and the biggest collection of randomness

I have only ever had to do this ritual once in my life....way way way back in 1993 when I finished my teaching job of five years....

So I can only try and imagine what it has meant for these boxes to come home after twenty....but our family mantra is onwards to new adventures......

Trial run...

I had a trial run at my new short working day today......

I am thinking there will be more baking of yummy afternoon tea treats.

The kids thought it was a great I had been home all afternoon.

Maybe it is not so bad after all!!!
