'Tis the time to give.....

Finding opportunities to give and show others love is really important to me and it is something I want my children to learn at an early age.....

One of the ways we have been able to get involved with being generous is 
Project Operation Christmas Child.


We have been involved as a church for the last 6 years. As part of my Children's Pastor role I co -ordinate this project.

This year we packed 100 shoeboxes full of goodies and love.   

 The months leading up to September a group of willing and creative ladies join together and we sew....

drawstring bags

pencil cases

we snip....

no sew scarves

we knit....

simple teddies

Then our church come together and buy a box and pack it...

exercise books

soap, face washers and toothbrushes

tennis balls

small toys, yoyo's , marbles

pencils , sharpeners

t-shirts

 The kids in our kids church run  the market days and together we give generously and donate to this worthy cause.

I know it's Monday but yesterday just needed to stand alone...thanks for all your thoughts and words of love.....

Weddings are a joy.... celebrating with a young couple ....having know the groom since he was a wee lad leaves, one feeling slightly ancient.

Eight

eight years ago....

a day that began like every other..... 

this mumma 20 weeks pregnant......expecting baby number three 
one daddy who worked hard for us all..

a five year old...
and  

an eight year old

 

one little family working through what normal was

eight years ago our lives changed forever....

something went a miss for a little girl who had been a battler
loved life and wouldn't accept that life should be different
A few short hours when things went from normal to anything but....
An unexpected turn in health and a day that ended far from the way it started....

 

one little family left to say goodbye....

eight years ago we became four  

eight is what  she was 

eight is what  she will always be...

eight is how long we have been without her....

That day defines this one....

Forever she will be in our hearts , and we wear our hearts on our sleeves,

Singing Ditty's

Being married to a musician means that there is constant music being played around our home......

One thing the hubby  loves to do is sing ditty's to the kids.....he sings them until they are either annoyed or intrigued as to what the song is....

Some times they are made up other times they are a variation of an old song we knew growing up.....

Here are two that have captured the attention of the kids this week.....and asked to have them sung  repeatedly....




Did you remember these ones....do you have someone that loves to sing ditty's in the house....???

 

Things I am Loving.....

I am loving that today I got to head back to Jody's studio for the start another eight weeks of REinventing......


I went armed with my basket of potential projects..... 

 

 I was keen to start with some easier ideas......

I did learn a new trick...

shirring........ 

It was lovely to be sitting in the garden for lunch watching the birds frolic......

 Then back to it........

 Now here comes the bit I don't love all that much......

being in front of the camera.....

but

this was my first completed project for the day.....

A large piece of fabric that was a wrap ...and needed making wearable.....

My REinvented shirt that is much more wearable and I got to learn my new skill......

A mandarin collar is much prettier than the shirt collar it had.......

and to leave you with a teaser for another piece I have not quite finished....
 

 So here's to Friday's and hanging with creative friends and  learning new skills.....

and the prospect of that new summer wardrobe.... 


Loving that it is the weekend and we have a wedding to attend.....except we are now heading to weddings of our friends children!!!!

I think I may have found thee....

My Creative self that is.....

Well lets just say I can feel it getting awakened ....

It has been such a busy last few months and I haven't had all that much time to exercise those creative inklings I always have bubbling away....

All that is about to change though.....

Playgroup was back this week....

Fancy colourful head wear was on the crafting schedule this week......   

 

  receiving some goodies in the mail has helped too 

this fabric tape from Alyna

and a fantastic stash of vintage fabric from  my friend Mandy

And a copy of Mollie Makes

and probably the biggest boost my creative self will get , is to join  these ladies again for the next 8 weeks starting IN THE MORNING ......

Oh my gosh I can't wait to get there...my stash of prospective projects is packed.....

I am so looking forward to the creative company and 

the creating of a new summer wardrobe....

So  I hope you don't mind me showing off for the next couple of months the magic that Jody will help me create.....

I have had such fun wearing my REinvented winter array.....  

Ahhhh I love Fridays anyway but now I have something to make them extra special.

All in the can....

Well we are off and running into the last term of the 2012 school year.....

Yes we had grumbling,  we had slowness this morning and yes the little guy did remind me that he wasn't actually going today.....

That was until I found some bargaining power....

in this little can of colour.......  

You see I remembered that tomorrow is sports carnival day.....

a day that he has been excited about for ages....

so I used that to my advantage.....

He wanted nothing more than for me to be there..... so...

 the promise of a day off work and the purchase of some blue colour for his hair and we had a bargain.....

phew....

Hopefully momentum will kick in and we can get through the last 8 weeks of year two and year eight.....eeek how did that happen?

Do you use  bribery  persuasive techniques with you kids....???

Boys, trees and pretty dresses.....

No one in this house is ready for tomorrow......

At least one little guy would rather be back climbing this tree with his cousins..... 

Their little injuries from the weekend are not helping either of them.....

It has been a busy , crazy at times school holidays....

Some time away that was so fun  in comparison to the thoughts of going back to school.....

Meg will be fine once she figures out how to hobble enough....
and  now that the homework is completed at the eleventh hour...

Fraser will still be lamenting the holidays three weeks from now!!!!

Who can blame him when life is just one big fun thing after another.....

and climbing trees with others ...even if some of them were little girls in pretty dresses...

well that IS all a seven year old needs

... right??

Apparently.

Think of me in the morning as I try every persuasive trick in the book to send him off with a smile.......
