I was reminded of a childhood slice the other day .
My mum being the stay at home type, always had a homemade afternoon tea waiting for after school.
Well that's what I remember...maybe it wasn't every day and not always homemade but pretty close.
(I was reminiscing with one of my sisters the other day about eating weetbix slathered with butter for afternoon tea when the homemade slices were not available!!!!)
Here is a slice recipe that is not only very easy but very tasty.....
CHOCOLATE WEETBIX SLICE
185gm butter
4 crushed weetbix
1 cup self raising flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup coconut
1 1/2 tbs cocoa
I just made a simple chocolate icing to go on top....
icing sugar
teaspoon butter
milk
You can find the variations here where I found it and went for a trip down memory lane.

This slice is so quick and is my family favourite. I will make it soon so I thank you for reminding me.
ReplyDeleteLoos nice but shouldn't you have been baking a burthday cake for tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteOH NO... now you KNOW I am going to have to go and try that....thanks a lot!!! heehee.. :)
ReplyDeleteYum! I love weetbix slice! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing. My mummy was a full time mumma & we'd come home to something fresh from the oven, or lunch box if she collected us after school late with sports practise. I'm replicating the same, just another way to say i love you, with home baking for my children. Love Posie
ReplyDeleteOoh I remember eating week box slathered in butter and jam...it was a favourite afternoon treat when the tins were empty.
ReplyDeleteWeek is slice is another childhood favourite that my children love as well.
