Buttons
We had some fun today at our MOPS group during the craft spot. We made these really cute button rings and they were so simple to do.
You can pick up the ring bases from Spotlight, you need to grab some buttons from that button jar you have stashed away and then a hot glue gun or some other really sticky glue.
I don't even need to tell you how we put them together they are that easy. They may not be every one's taste in jewelery but they are fun and colourful and creates some conversation.

Life after the Tour
Today we hit recovery mode after three weeks of Tour de France watching...for those unfamiliar with this event that happens each year at the same time it is the world famous cycling event that sees cyclists weave their way through France for three weeks. For those of us that hang in for the duration we now find ourselves very sleep deprived and in need of some serious early nights. ( the telecast of the race is the late hour of the night).
Today being Derek's day off we also decided to head out and get some quotes on a new front door and then to order some essential down pipes for our house that doesn't cope with the large down pours we have been getting.
I think we have both realised that we could never do a new build or a full renovation on a home ...we seriously lack any real direction and decision making but we will certainly endeavour to give it a small go and work away at the long list of jobs needing doing around home sweet home.
I have just completed the shopping order and preparation for playgroup tomorrow so now for that early night!!!

School's Back
School holidays are now over and everything of routine also starts back....lunches, uniforms, clock watching and school car parks !
Today I did a little DIY with some new purchases for our playgroup...after 1 1/4 hours I decided to leave my accomplishments at one and the others for another day.
I had promised Fraser a scooter ride around the block....he scooted I walked and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine.

Are You Civil?
" We are the trustees of other's happiness"
" We never touch people so lightly that we won't leave a mark"
"Choosing Civility" is a book by Dr P M Forni.
I heard an interview with this guy today and he has really challenged me to think about how civil I really am. You can read an excerpt from the book here.
I will certainly be contemplating more about the many brushes I have throughout my day with a myriad of others.

Books Just For Me
I found this magazine after some searching ...it is full of goodies to sew and create. It features a lots of projects from this creative lady. I'm not sure I should have purchased it because my to do list is already a little unmanageable...
On my to-do list for tomorrow ,find a quiet space and discover what lies behind the cover.

Forgotten finds
When I was moving stuff around the other day I found some treasures that I had forgotten were right in the back of the cupboard. The tea cups and the gravy jug came from my mum and I am not sure where they came from before that.
The Royal Albert pieces are mine that were given to me for 21st Birthday, engagement and wedding gifts.

A Creative Kinda Day
Lots of creative juices flowing today....
Some scrap booking with friends...
And back home for more "doing" or in Meg's case still sewing on her machine. By dinner time she had made two bags and a card (using this idea), to give to the next birthday we celebrate.

Sneak Peek
Here is something I have been meaning to get finished for a certain two superheroes that live in far off lands...let's hope that the postman can find their place by Tuesday. Because we know every good superhero needs a cape to call their own.
More Presents
Derek had his birthday back in June and received a gift voucher for this shop and so today we went to chose the perfect teapot and tea.
After much deliberation he settled on a beautiful cast iron teapot and some interesting tea....French Earl Grey and Blue Mountain.
We keep joking that we must be getting old ...drinking tea together.

Kids and More Kids
Today I ran a holiday programme for some of the kids we have contact with through church. 26 kid's to be exact. I am very surprised at how much fun we had...it helps having great helpers.
Some of the things we organised for them to keep busy were "pull aparts". A whole load of discarded gadgets and computers and we gave them screwdrivers and let them go for it. They had so much fun with the endless amount of screws and bits.

Volcanoes made from play dough which they made themselves and then combined vinegar and bi-carb soda to make them "erupt".
