Older who me???

Been thinking about getting older lately.....

Today we both spent some time having eye tests....hmmmm

Setting up orthodontic appointments for the eldest...hmmmm

 

 Life was so much simpler when we were younger and our offspring were little...

But I will be embracing the "getting older thing"......sporting a new to me fashion statement.....

....hey what the heck maybe I will be able to read so much more and see every word clearly!!! 

(Oh and  being quietly  smug that my eyes appear slightly less older! )

Things I am Loving

This week I am Loving...... 

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS....although I need to juggle some work days there is still plenty of time for a cuppa and chocolate....

Baking....I always like to send something with the kids when they head to someones for the day (thanks to both my sisters) especially if I am having to work... ..so there was choc chip slice and pumpkins scones made this week

Snail Mail...I found some time to sit and letter write a much overdue letter to a friend who I haven't seen for some time.

Scrapbooking.....the urge to gather school photos form the last three years and add them to the kids albums....nothing fancy but they are now done.

A little time with just the little guy ...time to hang out.

Getting out in the fresh air and getting to the library which is lovely and close.

Impromptu outings to the movies with cousins.....

The garden that is always offering beautiful surprises when I take the time to go and wander through it.

One week down....I have done much cleaning.....resulting in many clean and uncluttered surfaces...lots of little jobs completed.....family time....just what school holidays should be like....

Didn't make it to the dawn service...

But did get to the local march and parade........it was good to take some time to remember those who have helped give our nation it's freedom .

to share with the next generation what all this meant.

My Creative Space

I have called this " I have a new machine and this is the first project "skirt......

 I used Jody's Splice skirt pattern but only using one layer.....

I also added the little bird ...just because i could.....

I wore it last weekend to a family function and one of my family remarked that I would fit right in with the "Black Caviar" family.....

Hmmm...fabric is from IKEA.

How Tasty was Herman?

Nearly two weeks ago I was given Herman the German Friendship cake starter.....

I have lovingly stirred and fed him for the last ten days.....

The time then came to choose what I was going to do with him....

I split him 4 ways.....shared him with my sisters....kept one to keep growing...

and then I baked one....

I decided on APPLE AND CINNAMON

 

The mixture made two loaves....

The big taste test.....

OH YUM.....it was so delicious.....hot from the oven......even cold the next day for a family afternoon tea...... 

 I am so glad I have kept another batch to grow...this didn't last very long so in another ten days I can bake some more....

So now I am on the look out to pass the next lot on...or maybe just make loads of loafs for us.....

Watching kids playing well.....

Being able to provide fun activities for lots of kids....

Impromptu onesie gatherings.....

Unexpected foggy mornings that bought a coolness to the air.....

Stopping for a few moments and noticing the beauty of the garden as the seasons SLOWLY change....

Some inspiration to work on a project with my new companion...

OH AND IT IS SCHOOL HOLIDAYS....WE LOVE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS IN THIS HOUSE.
