Life is like a box of Krispy Kremes

My sister and her family arrived home from overseas yesterday.....they passed through Sydney on their way  home.
We Western Australians are deprived of the Krispy Kreme delicacies.....so they arrived  donuts in hand as a gift......

As we carefully made our pick and devoured them it got me thinking.......

Life is a lot like a box of assorted Krispy Kreme donuts.....

There were choices.....and the choice as to which one to pick was quite difficult....most of them if not all, looked very delicious and equally deserving of being consumed....

We each had more than one type that appealed to us more than the others....

As each of us made their choice and enjoyed the spoils....some then relented that they had made the wrong choice.....in fact, the one that someone else had chosen would have tasted better and  they began to focus on the one they had not chosen.......

Just like life offering up a variety of choices....we can often only  choose one option at that time....the pull is which way to go....what happens if I choose one then later wishing that I had chosen the other ...cause someone made it sound so much better than my choice.....

Wouldn't it be great if we could have it all......or at least a taste of all that was on offer.....

Just like our box of donuts and the tricky choice of which to consume......I find myself trying to teach my children that there are always choices....some leave a sweet taste of satisfaction and others leave us wishing we had chosen differently......but we always have a choice....and choices can be hard.

Trying to have it all....bypassing making choices is not a good option either....that often leaves you feeling over indulged, lethargic and plain sick to the stomach.......

Thanks sis for the treats......the maths lesson with the two left over was a fun lesson too!!!!!

***All photos from here.....ours were gone before I had a chance to get my camera out.

  1. You are so right Bron making choices certainly can be hard and dealing with the consequences of them too but there is always a lesson to be learnt from our choices. I bet that all of those donuts tasted yummy such a nice treat to have been given by your sister:) xxxx

  2. We got Krisy Kremes too this week, just glazed for us so the only decision was to eat or not to eat. Amanda

  3. Feeling deep tonight Bron!

Yep ... choices. Personally most of the time I hate 'em... but then I don't like other people deciding for me either - and yep - having it all just isn't an option either... what to do?

Just go with it and don't look back!!!

  4. I always feel that Krispy Kremes are a bit overrated actually. I've had them a few times & while they are nice enough to eat, I'd still prefer a nice home made something. Not really the point I know, haha! As for choices, the older I get the more I realise you just have to do what you feel is right at the time...and don't beat yourself up about the choices you made later on :)

They put a krispy kreme stall in at our local servo - 2mins down the road. Now my only choice is do I stop AGAIN or drive past quickly LOL ;)

Trying to teach my 7yo about choices and consequences this week - over homework of all things. Not sure Im doing it right, but we all fudge our way through these difficult decisions,
