Sunday Snippets

Finally finding a space of time to put my sewing machine in for a service meant finding other projects to consume some creative time this weekend.

Book or Movie???

Are you a book reader or movie watcher?

 

Do you see the movie first then read the book?

 

maybe you read the book and forgo the movie version

 

 

When this book came out in 2004 I "gobbled it up"...

 

it was given to me at a very emotional and painful time in life.....

 

I struggled to read the book without shedding a bucket load of tears and having many "ponderful" moments.....

It began the journey of reading what is now my favourite author......

 

 

Then the movie came out in 2008. I wasn't interested in seeing the movie...I was so affected by the book I thought the movie would spoil the act of reading such a story......

Last night I had the opportunity of catching the movie on TV....

I watched it

 Sad movie, good watch 

But no where as good as the book...

if fact I am disappointed now that I watched it...

it was so different to the book story line...

characters just weren't as passionate as those in the book.....

I am definitely a book girl  and those really good reads will stay just that for me next time.

Things I am Loving

 This week I am loving.......

Some time outdoors to run off some energy......

 With the return of school today we have enjoyed the most perfect Autumn weather this last week...

I jumped on a swing and swung high for the first time in a long while.....

....also loving that I was brave enough to put a call out for help with a little project....

Now just need the hubbie to be feeling so much better and we are heading into the weekend loving had a short work /school week.

I wholeheartedly believe that no matter what is happening in your life, there is always something that you can be thankful for... no matter how simple it is.  

My Creative Space

 These little guys are popping up all over the house this week.........

 

{two of these I knitted , the other I sewed using a felted wool jumper}

 You see I am responsible for co ordinating a project each year that sees shoe boxes full of goodies head overseas to children for Christmas time.....

This year for the "something to cuddle "item I would love to include one of these guys in each box.......
So I was wondering if you would like to help me......

I have a few real life friends that are on board but if you can knit then maybe you would like to help me get to the 100 I need? At the rate I knit I have no hope of getting there by myself.

These guys are straight line knitting ( if I can do it, anyone can)

They can be any colour,  plain yarn , fancy yarn  what ever you have ...they don't use up very much so great stash buster.....  

 Anyway if you would love to help out....maybe even just one little guy......or maybe you are super fast on the needles and could do a little more than one.....

Drop me an email and I will let you know where you can send them.

I have until August 31st to pack them .

I know cheeky ask but you never know unless you do ask!

ANZAC

I dragged my poorly hubbie out of bed later this afternoon and we headed out to remind the kids what exactly we were having a day off for.....

Energy to burn....

We are in the last days of school holidays and when

I arrived home from work today and the kids just looked like they needed to burn some energy.....

We left poor sick, sick daddy at home and headed to catch some of the day's last sun.......

I am a winter girl.....but you really can't beat this time of the year in this beautiful part of our world.

Re-invented Treasures

Am I the only one that drops bags of goodies off at the op shop and then can't resist going in for a look and end up putting something back in the car?????

I picked up this white ceramic tray last week 

combined it with 

 some of the crystal vases that I had gathering in the top cupboard

added to that

glass stones that were also scattered around the house

{some new ones purchased}

and finally

a quick grab of bougainvillea

and I have a nice sparkly centre piece.

I don't think it was all that bad that I brought that purchase home. x

The Lorax 

It is one of the best kids movies I have seen in a long time.

When it finished I just wanted it to start all over again.

Great animations......great characters and even greater themes running through it.

Such a timely "green" theme, a "be the one to make a change" theme and  a " we need to take care of all that we have been given" theme.

So many quotes throughout the movie that I just couldn't get them all down  quick enough.....

This is my favourite.......

Things I am Loving......

I am loving......

 that this week is still school holidays and we get to do a little bit of hanging out together......

We have great kids and are really enjoying the freedom's that come with being the ages they are.....

We have an extra long school holidays this time around so looking forward to almost another week of hanging out a bit.

 This week I needed to send a gift to a friend....

but 

I find myself unable to send /gift books without  a  bookmark to go with it.

 As I was getting ready to photograph it all wrapped I noticed something extra.......

We {well alright the little guy} found him a much more suitable home....

Hope "my new friend" enjoys her gift.

This is one of my very favourite books, both that I have read and that I love to gift.

EEEK ...My reality today...

 This is what greeted me this morning.......

My reality today....... Yep,  no dishwasher in this household.......

Am I the only one that wakes up to this some days??????

Last night I gave into "The Block and The Voice" and also to a bee stung foot that needed getting off........

I am not the only one who does the dishes in this house but I am the driver most nights......

 

Although school holidays are here...there is still the part of me that works part time out of the house and so some days there just isn't enough hours or energy.......

Lucky there is none one that lives in this household with OC tendencies......

or maybe that is what we are lacking in this household to stay on track!!!

I just need to remember to keep smiling!
