Catch Up

We have had a mixed couple of days....Meg has been home unwell from school and only returned today. She has begun the run of losing some teeth. It seems such a long time ago that she lost her first baby teeth. She is quite keen that we remember that her TWO teeth are in the tooth keeper, for some kind of return I am thinking!!!!

Playgroup was fun yesterday ...we made these colourful sun catcher hearts from this idea...

And tonight Meg was desperate to find Book Four in a series she is reading. The school library didn't have it on the shelf, neither did our usual library so we headed over to the next library only to get there just before closing time and found book four and five much to Meg's excitement.

There was also a movie or two for Fraser to take home..

Snapshot

This is just a snapshot of what has been going on around home this weekend.....shoes left in the middle of the floor, dishes in the sink, beds unmade and much much more chaos that I won't bore you with.....but we have had a great weekend of activity with our Women's Conference yesterday ( and I did manage to see some of my creations go home with lovely ladies),also a surprise 50th dinner to attend last night and our usual church business today. All this while feeling quite under the weather with the "lurgy". Oh well there is always Monday to pick up the pieces and try and resume some form of order!

Preparations

Preparations are under way for this event tomorrow....

It was such a bleak,wet and windy day today perfect for hanging out at home. I too was making my own preparations for tomorrow as I have the opportunity of showing some of the things I have been busy with.

There was ironing to do, tagging and working out the display - all the fun stuff.

The last thing I have left to do is do some alterations on Meg's dance top for tomorrow. Her dance class are doing an opening act.

It's Here!

I am finding myself thumbing through this "book" a lot making mental lists of all I could do if....
I bet I am not the only one who ran to their letterbox to make sure it hadn't been spoiled by the rain!

DeCluttering

To This......All this after our MOPS morning. We had a girl who is passionate about decluttering come and speak about the very basics . ...I think there is a part in all of us that the word decluttering strikes fear.

To help us on the journey we made these great bags from an old T-shirt...I used mine to get in order the bottom of my laundry cupboard.

I was too embarrassed to show the before photo but the after is very impressive. I even have created some more room to store other things.

How to make such a clever and simple bag?
Take one t-shirt ( the bigger the shirt the bigger the bag)

You could even save a step by using a tank top.....

Cut the sleeves off on the body side of the seam not the sleeve side.

Turn inside out and pin the bottom hem closed and sew straight across the bottom....turn back the right way and you have the bag.
So simple and all for the cost of one t-shirt sacrificed.

Hey this little guy got to stay in his pj's all day and watch movies with his dad for part of the day...both have a lurgy that required them to stay put.

Winter Returned

The roast chicken and vegetables were in the oven for dinner and the washing is drying in front of the heater.
Today felt like the return of winter not the start of Spring.
I have just finished reading another Jodi Picoult book-"Change of Heart". I love the topics she tackles and the research that is so evident in her writing. I am not so sure I will go and see the movie "My Sister's Keeper" because the book was so gripping and I think it will be one of those book to movie times that just won't live up. I could be wrong!
Do you know that even "Broken Nanas" go the shops for coffee according to Fraser ( I asked him what that meant and he said "you know nanas with broken teeth and things"!)

Full Steam Ahead

We decided to tackle the freezing winds this morning and find a couple of "Micro Caches". Not really knowing what "micro" was going to mean, we set off. Micro means really small and some very clever people have set some very clever treasure.

We had some extra fun along the way....

This afternoon was spent at a 5 year old super hero party and then dance rehearsals for Meg.

By the time we arrived home all concerned were starving for dinner and not long for bed.....pleased to report all in bed.
Father's Day lunch for tomorrow almost complete once the Pavlova and Lemon Meringue come out of the oven.
Then this little duck will be finished for the night.

PS. Not before I sit with a Milo and TimTam to dunk!

Super Nan

I can only try and imagine what it would be like to be 93 years old...This special lady - my nan would have been 93 today. We said goodbye to her in February , she did 92 very well indeed

Giving and Receiving

I have been busy preparing all the contents for our annual Christmas in a Shoebox Project. There is an opportunity for our church community and wider community to fill a shoebox with all sorts of "goodies" that will be sent to far flung countries. They will be handed out to children who need to be lavished with both practical and fun things for Christmas. I have so much fun gathering all the contents and then seeing generous people get on board with the packing...

These guys headed off to the Kindy Father's Night.....there was much excitement even the hair had to be spiked! "Are you cited daddy" was heard many times as they headed out the front door.
I was pleased to hear the reports of good singing and performing as Mummy missed out due to one little boy being too shy in May for the Mother's Day morning tea....he really is growing bigger.

Where is Spring?

Have you ever noticed that we no sooner enter a new month or a new season and the diary is calling us to make dates and plan for the next.
Spring and September is a special time to look forward to...the wildflowers, the feeling of needing to get out in the garden or clean and organise the cupboards. The only thing is that the weather seems to take a while now to catch up with the calender.Today here in our part of the world it was recorded as the coldest September day in four years...

I am trying as much as is in my control to live more in the moment. This is also a concept I am trying to build into Fraser. He is always wanting to know the next 10 steps and invariably misses the moment.
Although, something prompted him to go searching in the "Summer" cupboard for those "swimming things" and try them out in the bath.

And he also felt the need to invite all who would come to a party at bedtime. I think his timing could have been better!

A Special Project

We had a special mission today at playgroup...a gift for dad. Lots of the families that come along to playgroup don't have school age siblings so that means that the creation from playgroup is pretty special.
A bit of paint ,some canvas and a cute little saying put together made for a keepsake that any dad will love for Father's day.

We are also celebrating the first day of Spring today ,although we did have a fair bit of rain to mark the day. I did hear though that wildflowers are already beginning to make a show @ Kings Park.
