Treasures from the studio....

Due to some events in the household last week my hubbies music studio has seen the start of a revamp....

in the process, some things have been uncovered ...

most of which don't actually belong to him.......

He presented me with this first find   ....

as soon as I saw it  I knew it was from our first ever trip to Melbourne back in 1998 for our tenth wedding anniversary ...we went to the footy.

Let's get rid of it my hubbie thought...no it has a story I heard myself say!!!!

oh no here I go again.  

 

next he found these song books.....they belonged to my mum or even perhaps my grandparents....

Filled with songs of the 40's & 50's and beyond......

and then he found these......
I was back in primary school in an instant....

My favourite thing in Primary school was singing along with the ABC broadcast of Let's Sing.
It used to boom weekly over the PA system in the classroom......
We were each given our own song book, that we would use to  sing our way through the year.....

   

On closer inspection I found that some of these books actually belong to my sisters.....not sure how they have come to be in our house.......

How did I know they weren't mine ????

The inscriptions in the front cover of professed undying love..... 

gives it all away....

I will make sure I pass them on.......

 I am constantly surprised at what we have tucked away around this home......

I am a hopeless sentimentalist


 

Gifts to read

I am a handmade gift girl......where possible my go to gift for friends, family and the kids peers is to make something from nothing....

Occasionally though time runs short on me and the busyness of life doesn't allow me to pull together that special "Bron Creation"

This was the case this weekend for our most adorable nephew who turned One....

So what to do....my very next go to gift would be a book......   

I have a heap of favourites from my teaching days and I love to share the enjoyment of those.....

Even for big kids or adults I love to find appropriate books that will be enjoyed........ 

I mean there is nothing more sweeter than book reading no matter what age you are.

Oh I did manage a special Aunty Bron made card to go with my non handmade gift.......

REinventing This Week...

So yesterday you saw a sneak of my REinventions for this week's class........
I had begun them last week and finished them off yesterday...... 

One of Meg's outgrown dresses became fair game for me.....

and a new skirt for me.....

next was a wrap skirt that didn't fit me but had  great embroidered  fabric.....

and another new skirt for me.....

 after my Monday madness experience I now have a great range of skirts to choose from....

 

which is perfect for wearing on days like our 33 degree Spring day today.....

 and  because I now have  plenty of skirt action this little one is on it's way to being a 

dress.....

Dinnertime -Calzones

We have two extra big boys hanging with us for a couple of days while my sister takes a holiday.....

what to cook for dinner tonight?

My youngest sister put me onto this recipe for Calzones  

 

They were yummy and i think went down like a treat.....

we are big homemade pizza makers and eaters in this house so making these was very similar.

They are just like a pizza only rolled up...you could fill them with anything that you would put on a pizza normally.

Tonight I just filled mine with cheese, bacon , pizza sauce, baby spinach and tomatoes.

Have you tried these....do you like to make pizza's at home?     

 

Cure for fuzzy Monday

Before you say it I know it is Wednesday already...actually closer to Thursday even.....

but

 life is busy alright???

So on Monday morning when I looked at the day ahead, I just wasn't sure where to start first....

a busy weekend 

some emotion thrown in there and it all made for a blurry Monday morning....

Sadly for everyone else in the house they had a date either with school or work.

Me.....housework, grocery shopping, playgroup preparations.....lalalalalala

 So I chose none of the above and went Op Shopping.... 

  

Little did I know that my local Salvos were also having a blurry start to the week and were holding 

"Monday Madness" on all purple  ticketed items....

Bingo for me...... 

 

$20 and a few cents saw me walk out with ..

Vintage looking sheet set.

sunshiny yellow mug,

a collection of bias binding  

and

 Four skirts,
one pair of linen pants

and 

one red jacket......

some were perfect as is and some are destined for my date with Jody on Friday.
