Things I am Loving...

 

 

 

 

This week's loves are....

* The birds that have been gathering to "talk" to the chickens....makes for a fun watch out of the kitchen window.

* The arrival today of a project I have been working on.

* Some new creative materials to tackle a long over due project.

* A simple fathers day project at playgroup that went down very well.

* The blossoms that were in bloom yesterday at work...but the winds have been since so they may have disappeared today.

* Need a use for all those unwanted gifted neckties that dad may have lying around?...check out this cool idea. 

* I have loved keeping track of the gifts that have entered my world this week...here and here

 Oh and it is nearly Friday....I love the end of the week. 

Gifts in my day....

It's time I remembered to count my blessings...see the beauty and wonder around me....sometimes we get bogged down.....

 

 # the beans popping their heads through the warm soil

# phone calls from my hubbie in the middle of the day to say hi.

# the sun shining after the wet  

# cuddles with the most gorgeous newborn

# the wave from a little guy who is loving being independent 

 

I am going to be more intentional with seeing the gifts.......

Just Do It.

I have hit a road block...a mental road block.....one that has been hard to push through.....

until a day or two ago.....

I told myself just to get on and do it!!!

I dropped the recording of memories in story form about five years ago.....then I took up blogging that kind of replaced the art...well that's what I told myself.... 

But I have decided blogging can't replace the feeling of pulling of the album from the shelf and sharing with another on the couch.....that feeling of reliving memories and reading the snippets of truth....

So it is time to pull out all the bits...sort through the pieces to keep....head to the photo printing shop, work out how to keep it extra simple....and JUST DO IT...

My memory keeping had been using a system for the last 16 years and  is now non existent, so once I tie up some loose ends I am off to source a new system and get those stories told.....so that my little guy has some stories to reflect on past being three!!!!!!!

Weekend snippets

 The weekend that was........

.....The beauty of spending a day with inspiring women.

...pulling all that sewing and gathering together to launch our charity project.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Then by night spending a bonfire evening with friends....so lovely to sit and be warmed by the fire and be mesmerised by the the flames that light the sky.

Another weekend filled with friends, fun, food and enough fuel to head into another week.

Things I am Loving

 The almost Spring edition....

Lunch in the sun with my love to start the week.....

Followed by some preparation for the Spring veggies....

 Tomatoes being one of the choices....

All the while being watched by our new additions who are braver by the day at coming out for a looksie....

Even the Lemonades are preparing for round two.....

 Maybe even some beans for dinner come Summer.....

Rocket anyone????

Some baking during the week with the little guy...we stopped to marvel at the patterns that  the milk, oil and essence made....

An early morning start to drop my love off along the road ...he is in training and needed to run part of the way to work....can you spot him on the most bizarre foggiest morning we have seen....

Returning home I just had to snap a picture of the eeriness of the fog....

The sunshine and increased length of day even begs for a little front yard soccer practice....

A few minutes today to start a new read picked up from the library.....

A week with so much loveliness in it...

So much goodness.....so much loveliness....another weekend closer to Spring......now onto another week of fun.

Seeing something

Ever come across a random, long , unseen photo of yourself.....realise that it is totally dated and possibly "daggy"???

This one came into my possession this week.....

 

On first glance I thought .."one of those pics that should have been thrown"...."we weren't even looking"....

Then something drew me in.....it was taken about 20 years ago....looks like at a dinner function, probably a church one....

But what I noticed was two young people...not a grey hair in sight... fresh faced,a young version of ourselves...a time when life was free-er, simpler in many ways....our whole future ahead of us...

I love this photo....a real reminder of where we have come from...

I am glad it is still around and it was unearthed this week....

I love this history we have...the history we have together.......

Hayley's Date Slice

Some of the most delicious and easiest sweet treat recipes I bake over and over come as a result of playgroup morning tea.

Running three sessions a week that can be a lot of morning tea treats in a week. The mum's volunteer to bring something simple to share with the other mums....oh and a lot of the kids get to nibble as well.

So my latest treat came from "Hayley"  know here as "Hayley's Date Slice"

375g dates

2/3 cup castor sugar

1pkt Marie biscuits or something suitable for crushing

250g butter

1 egg

coconut to sprinkle on the bottom of the pan.

Line 20-30cm tin with baking paper and sprinkle coconut over the paper.

Melt butter and sugar.

Add dates and cook until they are "jammy"

Take off the heat to cool slightly then stir in the egg.

Crush the biscuits and stir into the mixture.

Spread and press mixture into the baking tin and refrigerate.

Oh it is delicious and I can say I have eaten my fair share of this batch. 

One of those days...

I knew it was going to be a crazy day when....

we woke to the promise of a wet and miserable day....

despite the wet we had a full quota at playgroup..75 bodies all having fun inside..

and 

then this afternoon the washing machine flooding my laundry 

I did however manage to bake the yummiest newest recipe...I will share with you tomorrow. 

the day is not quite over...... so tell me something that could put an end to the crazies.....was your day less crazy?
